What do you think will be included with 2.0? - Blu-ray Forum

Since we already on 1.9, what do you think will be included with 2.0?

Are these large steps? I know this is a first for PS3, but the PSP has had several major version updates, where they major changes to the system?

I am hoping for in game XMB access, everything else is gravy to me at this point. At least in game, XMB friends access, maybe also photos, and music to share and play while in game.

ok ..im hoping for an equalizer of some sort..the psp got one.....an options for changing wallpaper at every startup/ every hour etc...similar to my computer....
one thing i would like is sleep timer----if they gonna allow u to access ur ps3 from anywhere...i think they should have like a sleeptimer and a start up timeer.i would hate to be out of town for a weekend and i have to keep on my ps3 whole weekend to access it remotely...especially when home comes out and u can use ur psp.....sometimes i even charge my motorolla phone on my ps3 and i usually fall asleep ,,leavin the ps3 running whole night

ohh i wonder if the would include screen savers download option....--not just a faded screen....

In the next updating of the firmware would want the possibility of change the color to the icons, why with some backgrounds the icons do not see themselves a lot well.

Besides I would want the possibility of vision the video in developed WMV

u guys know damn well that the next update will be 1.91 there is no way that the next update will be 2.0. my honest and logical prediction will be that once we get update 2.0 that will be the same day that home launches public.

I want the ability to add folders for Friends/Games ect... that way I could sort my friends list down to clan members, specific game friends, and hometown friends ect...

and be able to sort my downloaded games into full version/demos/car games or whatever..

Well, like I've been asking for the past 6 months now, I would love XMB access in game. Also, more of a gravy feature but pretty damn important to me is in-game music.

As usual, both of those items will be "rumored" to be in the next patch, but they won't. We'll get slideshow backgrounds instead.

I hope to eat my words in the near future.

I wouldnt mind if they added AVI/Dvix support, most of my media is unsupported, I have run the Nero MediaHome server to stream to PS3 because WM11 and Windows share are a total joke!!

I don't think the PS button menu will ever be replaced with a XMB-like interface but I'd love for Sony to prove me wrong. It's not really necessary unless you've got a TON of options like the XMB. You can't provide all that and have a game running stably in the background. All that's needed is another couple of text entries for friends list access with communication and custom soundtracks (not that I'd ever use that).

If it's possible on the existing hardware, something to make PS3 BD Profile 1.1 compliant would be nice.

As always, I'd like more fixes for PS1 compatibility.

- BD profile 2.0 (I would guess that going from profile 1.0 to 1.1 is a bigger step than 1.1 to 2.0. So why not go for profile 2.0 at once?).

The 3 main things I would like to see with 2.0 are..

1.) Custom sound tracks for all games. I would like the ability to access the XMB during the game, go to music and select my own tracks, and play whatever music I choose, overriding the default music without overriding the sound effects.

2.) While playing online, I want the ability to contact friends via text or voice chat who are logged into the PSN from wherever they are at and invite them into a game.

3.) I want more plug in/software support for the PSN browser. I want things like WMV, Quicktime, and Real Audio/Video support. I'm sick of not being able to view game videos from places like IGN and Gametrailers.com because of lack of support from the browser. Also, I can't seem to find anywhere that let's you view/download HD game trailers through PSN except within the PS store.

Other minor updates I'd like to see...

1.) For god's sake! The PSP has had the ability to change the bg colors on the XMB for over 2 years! Why can't the PS3? Give us a generous color pallette and let us choose our own bg colors.

2.) Font choices. It would be nice to give us an array of font choices for our system.

3.) The ability to create and name individual folders for videos, photos, music, etc would be nice.

4.) The ability to download entire dvd/blu ray disks on the hard drive.

That's about all I can think of.

I simply want the time when you press the ps button. I mean come on how hard can that be to include!

Wouldn't mind choosing the colour of the theme like you can on psp.

They also need more folders in the game section of the media bar. They need folders saying demos, classics, and psn games.
