I mounted my TV according to the stands instructions and I am a little uneasy with the way it is. Did I not do something correctly or am I just worried too much?
The holes in the back of the tv are really close together which makes the 2 bars holding the TV supporting it are just an inch or two apart. I would think they should be spread out more giving it stronger stability. Here are the pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() |

wrong holes... or wrong bracket
check for holes approx 4" from side they may have put the screws into the holes already took better look at pic. looks like your tv doesn't support VESA mounting standard what does the manual say ?? Last edited by gearyt; 01-24-2009 at 09:29 PM. |

Here is my question. What you linked me to is just a plate. I have the mounts already screwed into the holes that the plate would go to. Why do I need a plate if it's already in the same holes it will use? |

Do I attach one piece to the mount and the other slides into place and connects to the monitor? I want to make sure I have this right before I do anything. I'm sure you are correct in telling me I need this, but wouldn't it have come with this if it was needed? I find it hard to understand why they would give me the entire bracket, but leave this one part out. The TV is 61 pounds for what its worth. |

If you were to recommened a bracket to add to it to add strength what would you suggest? I could easily take it down and add some stability to it. It's just hanging on the main bracket right now.
This is my stand, btw, for reference. http://www.target.com/Stealth-TV-Sta...stealth&page=1 |

![]() I can't help but cringe at the thought of this setup in my house... and I don't have any children around! Hell, my equipment stand keeps everyone at least 3 feet away from the wall at all times and that mount would still make me cringe anytime somebody walked anywhere in the room. |

So what would you recommend? I don't see anywhere else on the back of my tv that allows me to mount the brackets? I posted this so I could get some suggestions, in case I'm not looking at something obvious. |

What brand/model of TV is it? My Sony Bravia came with 3 different configurations for 3 different mounting bracket styles. Last edited by Petra_Kalbrain; 01-25-2009 at 12:40 AM. |

Here is what the manual says (it's the only thing the manual discusses about mounting.):

It obviously is not the same since you have a WALL MOUNT unit and I am talking about a unit that is supported by the base (shelves) and is free standing... it has nothing to do with the wall.

![]() ![]() LMAO!!! ![]() I can't believe it!!! ![]() I just realized now that this photo was taken from DIRECTLY ABOVE THE TV! This whole time I kept referencing this pic and swore that it was a side shot. A side profile shot would indicate a wall mount as it doesn't appear to have any support bar heading towards "the floor." An above view reveals a totally different situation since you can't see the support bar anyways. P.S. I had wondered why you had a subwoofer mounted to the ceiling. That obviously is not the case! ![]() ![]() So, I am sorry for all of the unnecessary banter. I'd be satisfied with that situation. Being mounted on that, the TV has, what I like to call, "Earthquake stability." That means that if someone bumps into it, it has room to shake off the ensuing forces. Mounted on the wall with that bracket system, I'd fear that the ensuing force would be shoved into (what I thought was) the one small block where I thought the TV mount brackets connected to. |
