Default Is my TV mounted properly (Pics included)?

I mounted my TV according to the stands instructions and I am a little uneasy with the way it is. Did I not do something correctly or am I just worried too much?

The holes in the back of the tv are really close together which makes the 2 bars holding the TV supporting it are just an inch or two apart. I would think they should be spread out more giving it stronger stability.

Here are the pics:

wrong holes... or wrong bracket
check for holes approx 4" from side
they may have put the screws into the holes already
took better look at pic. looks like your tv doesn't support VESA mounting standard
what does the manual say ??

I have 2 sets, and one close together like that, I too was concerned when I first put it up, but it has been that way for 15 month.

I don't have holes on the side 4" from the ends. As you can see, my TV is flat, except in the middle where it boxes out (which is flat). In this box on the middle (where the brackets are placed in the photos) is a butterfly/cross looking area with screw holes. Then just outside the box area in the center is a line of screws going vertical, but these are a good half an inch subset from the back of the unit.

Installation Options

8 Hole Pattern

75mm x 75mm VESA® Pattern

100mm x 100mm VESA® Pattern wall mounts

It looks like the TV ( what is it ? ) is non- VESA
and requires a special modifier plate / bracket

you're quick !! 100x100 VESA is for a small set, and not the bracket you have

Haha, thanks, I'm just worried and don't want to leave it up there if it's installed wrong. Thanks for your quickness.

Here is my question. What you linked me to is just a plate. I have the mounts already screwed into the holes that the plate would go to. Why do I need a plate if it's already in the same holes it will use?

the plate, SHOULD, give more stability..
but if the TV is light, and I guess it is... to be VESA 100
and you are confortable, go with what you have

is it right... no, will it work.... sure

If I purchase this http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...t=1#largeimage

Do I attach one piece to the mount and the other slides into place and connects to the monitor? I want to make sure I have this right before I do anything.

I'm sure you are correct in telling me I need this, but wouldn't it have come with this if it was needed? I find it hard to understand why they would give me the entire bracket, but leave this one part out.

The TV is 61 pounds for what its worth.

naw..... that's yet another type of bracket. very low profile

because you already have it up... just leave it
If you look at the ones for VESA 100, they are much cheaper, and smaller

just don't let the kids in the block hang on it...

If you were to recommened a bracket to add to it to add strength what would you suggest? I could easily take it down and add some stability to it. It's just hanging on the main bracket right now.

This is my stand, btw, for reference.

Yikes.

I can't help but cringe at the thought of this setup in my house... and I don't have any children around! Hell, my equipment stand keeps everyone at least 3 feet away from the wall at all times and that mount would still make me cringe anytime somebody walked anywhere in the room.

So what would you recommend? I don't see anywhere else on the back of my tv that allows me to mount the brackets? I posted this so I could get some suggestions, in case I'm not looking at something obvious.

Upon closer inspection of the photos, I can't see any other bracket hole options either. You may be S.O.L.! If I was in this situation, I would actually look into a TV and/or wall mount return/exchange. If I was going to keep the TV, I'd look into a TV stand with the actual TV mount built into it (something like this -> http://www.amazon.com/SANUS-SYSTEM-P...47581&sr=8-23). But, that's just me.

What brand/model of TV is it? My Sony Bravia came with 3 different configurations for 3 different mounting bracket styles.

That's exactly the mount I have. Did you look at the link from my previous post.

What does the manual say for wall mounting?

Here is what the manual says (it's the only thing the manual discusses about mounting.):

Quote:
The TV has been fitted with two sets of VESA
mounting holes. The holes are spaced 75
mm and 100 mm equally apart for the 42”
product and 100 mm and 200 mm equally
apart for the 47” product. These mounting
location are provided strictly as an option to
the user for wall mounting.
It is the responsibility of the user to use a UL
Listed Wall Mount Unit rated to support the
weight of this TV. Please consult authorized
service personnel for the installation of this
Unit. Incomplete or inadequate mounting of
the unit to the wall may cause it to fall down, resulting in potentially serious injury.

It obviously is not the same since you have a WALL MOUNT unit and I am talking about a unit that is supported by the base (shelves) and is free standing... it has nothing to do with the wall.

I don't have a wall mount! This is the TV STAND I have as linked earlier in this post:

LMAO!!!

I can't believe it!!!

I just realized now that this photo was taken from DIRECTLY ABOVE THE TV! This whole time I kept referencing this pic and swore that it was a side shot. A side profile shot would indicate a wall mount as it doesn't appear to have any support bar heading towards "the floor." An above view reveals a totally different situation since you can't see the support bar anyways.

P.S. I had wondered why you had a subwoofer mounted to the ceiling. That obviously is not the case! Wow... I feel like dying my hair blonde and changing my name to Elle.

So, I am sorry for all of the unnecessary banter. I'd be satisfied with that situation. Being mounted on that, the TV has, what I like to call, "Earthquake stability." That means that if someone bumps into it, it has room to shake off the ensuing forces. Mounted on the wall with that bracket system, I'd fear that the ensuing force would be shoved into (what I thought was) the one small block where I thought the TV mount brackets connected to.
