I've only seen 6 of the ones on the list so far, but I'm sure my personal list would include the "You Make My Dreams" dance sequence from "(500) Days of Summer". Surely one of the most joyous scenes in film this year (in an otherwise angst-y film, which I loved).

I thought that the opening scene of Watchmen with the death of the Comedian was much better than the prison lunchroom scene. I also thought that the best line in the Hangover was when they received "Black Doug" and Galifiankis laughs and says, "Classic mix up." It is hysterical.

As a Trek fan, the moment that sold me on this year's Star Trek was actually Karl Urban's first appearance as McCoy. He started rambling all cranky-like and I mentally stamped him "Approved!"
I agree with CZAR's nomination of the forest battle in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. It's a shame the rest of the movie fell so much shy of that level of involvement and entertainment, because that's what I want to see Optimus Prime doing when I pay $9.50 to go see him on a big screen: Taking on an entire squadron of Decepticons. And, for my money, that opening montage of Up isn't just the best "moment" or scene of 2009, but it might be the best of the decade. Admittedly, I haven't seen Inglorious Basterds yet, but I have a hard time imagining a scene that is more captivating and gut-wrenching than the story of Carl & Ellie Fredrickson. |

I'll get what I disagree with out of the way first:
-As much as I enjoyed The Hangover, I wouldn't put the photo montage on this top 10 list. -Gran Torino is a 2008 movie. It shouldn't be on the list at all. -I enjoyed the Rorschach scene where he gives the guy a grease facial, but there were other scenes I thought were even better in Watchmen. -I don't agree with them picking that scene from Inglorious Basterds at #1. I thought there were other scenes that were far better, even though I am in the minority already by not liking the movie. What I agree with: -The kidnapping scene from Taken. I'm glad to see that made the list. -The final battle from Avatar. It's my favorite movie of the year, so I could choose from many scenes, but that was surely a great one imo. -The opening montage from Up. I think we've all covered that one. -The George Kirk scene from Star Trek. There were several very good scenes in the movie, but this one was one hell of a way to start off a movie. Can't comment on The Hurt Locker's scene or District 9's because I haven't seen either movie. My own honorable mentions (two already mentioned by Czar): -Paris chase scene from G.I. Joe -Forrest fight scene from Transformers 2 -The prison break scene breaking out Rorschach in Watchmen |

A few i thought were good on Sherlock Holmes, were the break down of the fight before he acually did it. And the Flashback to show him following Rachel McAdams at the beggining. But i totally agree with the #1 that scene was awesome. Not sure on the love for the Paris Chase scene, Scarlett gets hit by cars on the Motorcycle multiple times yet it doesnt wreck till the 12 time or so, how awful. Also the splitting up in the end was pointless cause all they needed was the kill switch, to save Paris. I would think that would be first priority. Plus the accelorator suits were just awful in the first place. Last edited by Itputdallotion0n; 12-31-2009 at 03:49 AM. |

![]() ![]() (Although I'll give the cafeteria scene third place for only being off-screen mentioned in the comic.) And although Stoner-Boy already stank up my choices for "Orphan" (me, I knew the twist going in, and it was still creepy just for the kid actress who knew what she was doing), and "GI Joe"-- I'll throw in Helena Bonham Carter gleefully kicking the crap out of Hogwarts Main Hall at the end of Harry Potter &tHBP, just to find something that hasn't been mentioned yet, and raise you the Sam-Raimi's-back seance from "Drag Me to Hell". (Oh, and wasn't Gran Torino technically one of LAST year's films?) |

I agree with the Zombieland cameo being a Top 10 moment, it was just classic!
When I first saw the title, the Up montage immediately sprang to mind. That is the one that sticks out to me for the year. I will also agree that the opening credits of Watchmen were excellent as well. |
