Region Coding proved to be really useless with DVDs when everyone went MultiRegion and online purchases killed the whole concept ..
It seems some people didn't learn the mistake and BluRay is still being devided into region codes (3 Regions) Question .. Is the PS3 a MultiRegion player for BD Movies ?? I know there is no regions for Games .. But what about the movies ??? I have PAL Euro PS3 .. Will I be able to buy movies from Amazon.com ?? or I have to stick with Amazon.co.uk and pay more for British Currency Conversion ?? |

To my knowledge the PS3 is region encoded for DVDs and BDs. So far a lot of BDs have been released without a region code, but that's not guaranteed.
So, check what region the BDs is in before ordereding it from Amazon. I have a US PS3 model, and can not play European DVDs. |

All PS3 games are region free, so you can buy them from anywhere. A LOT of Blu-ray movies are also region free but I'd first check the region on the disc before buying it. The PS3's DVD player is region locked, but tight! That's the worst part for me! I also have a Euro PS3 and I ordered the entire X-Files series on DVD from Amazon a while back. Now I can't watch them on the PS3 and it hurts to watch them on my standard DVD player. The picture quality is terrible on my HDTV. It's offputting, I can't even watch them. At least the PS3 upscales DVD's but now I still can't watch it becasue it is region locked!!! The thing that really frstrates me is that I bought the PS3 as a Blu-Ray and DVD player, not a games conole. Now I'm buggered. R6000 later.

I live in the US, and the PlayStation 3 box has the Region A logo on it.
Therefore, it should play any and all BD movies with Region A coding (BD movies from Japan is one good example among others). I can't answer the question as far as games though, as I only buy games within the US. Jodi |

I know for sure games are not region coded ..
Now I know that players are .. but I heard also that some studios don't care and make their movies region-free .. |
