Can anyone explain the purpose of this? I gotta be honest, I don't like it one bit. It's like that horrible DRM used in some PC games.

I guess it's because of the online gaming part, anytime you're playing, a guy could jump into your session as Player No.2.

But of course it shouldn't be mandatory to play online all the time.

Also you can only play it on one ps3 per 24hrs. I downloaded it to all 3 of my ps3s and it will only let me play it on the first one I downloaded and tried it out on. The message I get when trying to play it on my son’s ps3s is that I have to wait 24hrs from the last time it was played on my ps3. WTF IS THAT ALL ABOUT

Anyone else download it on multiple ps3s and get that error????

What BS I checked around and you can only play it on one ps3 per 24hrs and online only. I wish I could get my money back or knew about this before I bought the game. Capcom sucks donkey balls with this move.

They did it to make it more like the arcade where someone can just hop on and start playing with you, but I do agree its annoying to say the least.

According to IGN's review, you can set up a custom single player, or private game (if you only want to play w/ ppl on ur friends list, or whoever is on the couch next to you). Still sux that u have to be signed in to play, but I'm always signed in when I turn my PS3 on anyway.

Thats not a Capcom thing, thats a PSN thing (I'm pretty sure the 24 hr thing applies to all games on the PSN).

One of the main problems with this port, along with having to sign in to play, no pause, are the audio errors! When you are taking out a large group and the "go" chime is sounding, it just keeps cutting out! This error is NOT on the arcade version! WTF

Nope. It most assuredly does not.

And yeah, some PS3 games require you to be signed into PSN to be played. I think this is an artifact carried over by ports of 360 games that require XBL for authentication. Yes, I think it's retarded, too.

I have not picked up Final Fight Double Impact because I hear it is not an HD upgrade and with this extra hassle here I doubt I will get it anytime soon.

I picked it up and it's great fun - I love kicking butt with folks randomly jumping in to help. I agree though that it's supremely lame with the DRM and requirement to be online in order to play.

Seems I can pass on this one. I have it on PS2 and GBA with none of these issues.
