Default netflix question

im sure this is in the wrong section, but its for the ps3. i just got the streaming disc for the ps3. while i think 11 bucks a month is worth it, im kinda upset. i thought i was gonna be able to steam more recent movies, like inglorious bastards or angels and demons. my question is, will this change over time and will they eventually bring newer releases to steam or will i just have to deal with it? thanks

Default I feel ya..

I believe this link provides a simple answer.

http://digital.venturebeat.com/2009/...ng-new-movies/

I hope the decision makers consider tiered pricing in the near future. I would gladly pay $30-$50 a month if all of their titles were available to stream, but at the same time I would want the option of keeping the current price and not being able to stream newer releases.

Are you reading this Mr. Hastings?

I can get new releases with netflix. I ship my movie back on saturday, then they ship my new release at the top of my queue on Monday, and I receive it Tuesday.

Well recently there was the story in the news about how Warner Bros was going to delay giving movies to Netflix, until something like 4 weeks after retail release. The rumor is that in exchange, WB will open up more of its library for Netflix streaming.

If other studios follow WB's lead (of delaying their availability on Netflix), they may hopefully also open up their catalogues for streaming, and you'll hopefully get a huge influx of streaming movies.

I'd rather have Netflix figure out streaming first, before adding more movies to it. I had a one-month trial a few months ago, and I remember the streaming leaving a lot to be desired (it was just stereo audio, and even the HD-labeled movies had picture quality that looked more like DVD).

For Netflix's flat rate there will always be a delay between the BD release and when it is available digitally for downloading.

the $11 is the "one movie" out at a time right?

well..for me I get a lot of use from it right now..and if the movie is not available for streaming you can always get the disc shipped to you.

and as for the question about why not all movies are available for streaming..it all depends on licensing..who agrees to what and what not

I tried the free trial and after I looked at their streaming selection I canceled immediately. They are not getting any of my money with that a$$ selection.

^yup..I have the $9 deal..and yes add $2 to upgrade to blu-ray rentals = $11

but right now I'm just using the $9 for streaming since some series' are in HD like LOST..and I don't have cable so I don't mind the lack of new movies..
There are a lot of series' that I can watch that I haven't been able to catch up to..like Heroes, LOST, Grey's Anatomy, Myth Busters, Southpark to name a few

still a good deal for me..cheaper than cable w/o the commercials lol

Eh, its no biggie to me at the moment. My setup is this:

1. I rent 2-at-a-time through Netflix (unlimited streaming and I get those titles that Redbox and Blockbuster don't get).

2. If I happen to miss the window for new week releases, I Redbox 'em for $1.

3. Blockbuster is my last-chance option if the first two don't work out, but I've never had a prob with the first two.

So, in the end, I get to watch the new as well as hard-to-get titles all at the same time. Yes, it doesn't resolve the new week releases on the Netflix streaming option, but I have choice ultimately.
