Hm, I guess. I'd imagine it's a fairly frontloaded game though.

Oh ya, no Bayonetta either. Poor Sega,

Very low numbers all around, expected higher numbers. I expected the 360 to beat the PS3 this month, one of the reasons being there were still shortages around January for the PS3.

PS2 is on its last legs, end of an era.

Yeah, NPD was low all round except 360 which was the only system to see a massive release.

PS2 is pretty much done in the US now, I can't see many people buying it, but it's been the king for long enough. Time to hand over the crown I think...

Otherwise, yeah, PS3 had notable shortages, and Wii had shortages towards the end of the month apparently. So not surprising to see them doing less than they should. I think next month there will be a big improvement in both as shortages ease while 360 will go down as the number of offers and promotions decrease and there is no big hitter like ME2.

I want Heavy Rain to be a system seller but I'm fearful that not enough people will be open to that type of new gameplay and game type.

Yeah PS2 is done selling in the US and JP, probably the same in PAL. Still has room to sell well in developing countries, I know they launched it in Brazil (for a ridiculous price), as well as other Latin American countries. I think they also officially launched in India and China, so the PS2 can probably still sell for a good 5 more years but we won't hear much about it until Sony themselves releases the numbers. For the US I guess this will be their last Holiday. I can't see the PS2 costing Sony more than U$60 to make, so they'll probably drop the price early next year and kill game development for the machine then.

I expect HR to be a niche seller, superb game but not a system seller. I'd compare it to ICO/SOTC (though it remains to be seen if it'll be as good as those 2 games but you get my point).

Yeah, I think the demo will have made as many sales as it will have lost. I want it to be successful as I think it's great and could be a real turning point in gaming when it comes to delivery of a story and action/consequence gameplay.

Obvioulsy GoWIII is going to be the big one in March, and FFXIII will probably do better on PS3 because of the inbuilt fanbase.

GT5 will probably the best system seller that I can see on the horizon. FFXIII for sure though will sell systems because even my brother is buying a PS3 just for it and he swore off gaming.

I don't think FFXIII is a PS3 system seller, it'll also be on 360 and it'll be bundled exclusively with the 360 here. You forgot God of War 3, that's definitely a system seller I think.

I heard that. I'm still not sure if that's true. Who said it?

Microsoft at X10, but only for $399 bundle not $299 Elite or $249 Arcade.

Not sure how popular it will be though...

So Sony doesn't have any bundle planned?

Nope but they did have that special PS3 with that character Lightning on it in Japan since FFXIII is a PS3 exclusive over there. Also they did a one for that Advent Children movie.

Sadly no. MS has the bundle all to them selves including some crap DLC.

You would think the obvious choice would be a PS3 bundle seeing how thats where the fanbase is.

Sad that it went from PS3 exclusive to bundled with the other system. Way to give one last big middle finger to PS3 users, Square. Nice.

It just seems so bizarre. It's not like MS is really taking a hit by bundling the game (since the console is 100 dollars more than it would normally be), so it's not like they would have to come up with a special agreement with SE.
