Howdy-
Hi folks. I have a ps3 and a Samsung Plasma TV ( about 3 years old ) and a motorola HDDVR. I'm intrested in getting an HDMI switcher. SO far I've come up with the Monoprice 5x1 HDMI switcher. Anyone have any advice on what to get ? Thanks Mike |

The monoprice one is a good cheap one for now. I used it for about a year and had no problems. It's only HDMI 1.2, I think, so if you upgrade to a TV that supports Deep Color or something, you'll have to replace it. But for about $80, which is what I remember mine costing, it's a easy to toss when you have reason to get something better.

Receiver 1.3? no receiver used HDDVR 1.3? no then there is no reason why the switch would have to be 1.3 compliant. most any switcher will be fine. |

We have: 1.2 HDMI Switch without Toslink (5x1) for $47.60 or 1.3 HDMI Switch with Toslink (4x1) for $199.99 You'd be paying $152.39 extra for HDMI 1.3 compliance (which you wouldn't be able to use yet) and you'd have one less port. You would get a nicer display, though. Both have remotes, btw. You might want the Toslink switching if you have a receiver that doesn't support HDMI, though. |

Get this one: 4X2 True Matrix HDMI 1.3a Powered Switch with Remote Controller
(Free Ground Shipping) $89.99 http://www.supermediastore.com/4x2-hdmi-switch.html I have a DirecTV HR-20 HD+DVR and a PS3 and a HD-A20...all 3 connected VIA this switch and I get PCM or Bitstream through the switch to my Pioneer VSX-94TXH 7.1 Channel A/V Receiver to decode the TrueHD & Dolby MA. I have gone through several HDMI switches, this is the only one where I haven't had audio issues when changing content sources. By going 4 X 2 I can send 1 HDMI out to my Samsung LNT5281FX 52" 1080p LED LCD [500,000 to 1 Contrast Ratio] & another HDMI out to my Pioneer VSX-94TXH 7.1 Channel A/V Receiver...not having to run my video through my Pioneer VSX-94TXH 7.1 Channel A/V Receiver. I had just purchased a cheap 20$ hdmi switcher from ebay and I'm running a mitsubishi projector 1500, so when my PS3 is turned on on main screen, i'm getting flickering. Only happens through HDMI switcher. Anyone knows why? Did I get a defective cheap switcher??
Thanks in adv guys. ps. directv hd dvr runs from the other end, works just fine. Last edited by euro0779; 02-27-2010 at 02:48 AM. Reason: to add a |
