Question Finally I have the room for a Home theater

I finally have room for a home theater.

It is a 20 feet wide & 24 feet long with bay windows on one side( no chances for for projector screen).
I need suggestions From all the great people on this forum for the best Home Theater I can Have in this space. I am going to start with a clean Slate.

Can you post some pics of the room and give us your initial ideas?

Why no chance for a projector screen?

Yeah can have projector, but light from the windows and I don't want to dig through finished drywall for wires.

Agreed. All I'm thinking is: blackout curtains for the bay windows and problem solved. A room that size deserves to have a projection screen!

As "progers13" said, you should probably think about a projector for that size room. I have windows along the whole side of my area, and blinds work for fine for day watching but I mainly watch at night anyways. As for the wires, you probably would just have 2 cords(HDMI & Power), which you could try and cover them some creative way.

Great point, Dak. OP - take a look at Dak's gallery. He's got a great looking projector setup and his room has got to be around the same size as yours.

Yeah "dak"s home theater Looks real nice.

My room is also the first room from the main door. I was thinking if I have guests during the day, they can watch tv without using blackouts.

I was thinking 55" sony from Costco. But dak's HT setup has me thinking again.

Samour - (just some more info) The room I have gets the Morning sun which isn't too bad - Not sure about Evening sun though. When we have people over during the day I typically just shut the blind closest to the screen and keep the others open. Projectors have come a long way with brightness levels. During the day I'll set the projector to the middle or brightest setting, but you're not going to get perfect color, but it's still really good.

just get a drop-down screen and put a flat panel behind it...... you'll probably get the most use out of a setup like that.

best of both worlds

I think I am going to head in this direction as I have a window 3/4 of the way on the wall.

Can I get some suggestions for Speakers, subwoofer, and receiver.( screens and projectors too)

I haven't had the time to demo, but heard that monitor 70 were good but they are not being manufactured by polk any more. How are the tsi 500's.

All the help is appreciated.

Not sure what your budget is but you may want to look at the MArantz 6003 as a receiver. It's $650 (refurbished) but has 2 HDMI outputs which is what you would want for a flat panel and a projector.

If you're not interested in 3D, there are a lot of deals to be had for last years plasma models. Vanns has some good deals right now.

I have Monitor 70s and my cousin has TSI 500s. When I first ordered my Monitor 70s I had them shipped to my cousins house. We compared them and they were pretty much a coin flip. The TSI 500s are bottom ported and the Monitor 70s are front ported. That will effect placement options a little. I am glad I went for the Monitor 70s off Newegg for $175 each instead of the TSI 500s for $399 each.

Even though they no longer make the Monitor 70s you can buy them brand new from NewEgg and it's going to have the manufacturer warranty since NewEgg is an authorized online retailer. If you are interested Polk also has a refurbished section on eBay. It's Polk direct and I hear you will get the full warranty on those as well.

http://stores.ebay.com/Polk-Audio-Direct

Right now they have a pair of Monitor 70s on auction for $150. They often times have the TSI line up there for around $250 for a pair.
