Default Harmony 620 or Newer Model?

My local Target has the Harmony 620 on clearance for $69. I had been contemplating the Harmony One, but this would save quite a bit of $. I am looking to control TV, Dish Network DVR, AVR, Blu-Ray, DVD, and CD. I have never really used the macro functions on previous Marantz universal remotes, so I am thinking a basic unit that controls several devices would work for me. I have also heard touch screen is not the greatest feature.

I also noticed that the Harmony 700 is the only unit that has the Red/Blue/Yellow/Green buttons specific to Blu-Ray. Is that a feature that would make this remote worth considering? Or are the Blu-Ray features easily handled by other buttons on the 620 and the One?

Thanks in advance for any input from the Harmony experts.

You can program the 6 soft keys atthe top of the remote to control the colored buttons. That is how I have my Harmony One configured. It doen't have dedicated buttons for the colors.

BTW, the Harmony is very easy to configure with their software. You can then go in and further define what buttons do what either per device or per activity.

Love my Harmony!!!

I'm fairly certain you need the PS3 adapter for any Harmony remotes. It costs around $50.

Correct. You will need an adapter for any universal remote. It is not limited to just Harmony remotes.

Thanks Hammie. Your set-up is incredible!

What do you think is the biggest advantage of stepping from a 620 to a One?

If the 620 is anything like my 688, the numbers will wear off after about 12-18 months of use (just the most commonly used ones). I like the harmony buttons because they have the hard buttons with backlit numbers versus the soft rubber buttons with the numbers silkscreened on them.

Personally, I could do without the touchscreen. There have been a couple of times the angle was slightly off and I triggered the wrong command.

You may want to consider the 700 model. Looks like a nice compromise between the 620 and One.

this is the only thing I don't like about my One.. I wish they put physical buttons next to all of the touch screen buttons.

Or little ridges either around each section or on the outer plastic surround to delineate where each "button" is.

Thanks for all the input. I think I just found the answer! Costco now has the Harmony 880 for $89.
