Default Connecting a Second Sub Question

I'm currently running a 7.1 system from a pioneer VSX 1019 AH-K receiver. It is currently sending the sub frequency to a single SVS PC-12 NSD. Eventually I will want to grab a second sub (probably another SVS) to help equalize the sound in the room. Since my receiver only has a single sub output, what is the usual protocol for setting up a 2nd sub? Do I buy a splitter and attach it to the receiver?

Any advice would be most helpful.

Thanks

Yep, I have 2 SVS PC-12 NSD subs myself (by the way, get a second one, you will be all the more impressed ), and that is what you'll need, a 1 male/2 female Y-splitter out of your Sub Out on the back of your Pioneer. One like this....

Thanks a bundle. I'm glad it is that easy. I see many people having separate power supplies running to their front sound stages and subs. Is my receiver strong enough to handle everything? Also, do I need to professionally calibrate the sound once the second sub arrives, or would I need to simply run the pioneer sound test the receiver provides?

Your PC12 sub has it's own BASH amp....you have no worries whatsoever in having your Pioneer feeding any power to it. You are fine.

As far as calibrating one sub or two, get an SPL meter from Radio Shack for around $50 and read these stickys from Big Daddy:
