Smile Blu-ray on analogue HDTV

I've spent about $65,000 on ultimate high-end CRT front projector from Reference Imaging. However, RGBHV is analogue and it will be using the component outputs of my blu-ray player. Component is analogue 1080 interlaced (compared to digital HDMI that is 1080 progressive). Already, I'm not getting everything from the blu-ray if not using HDMI.

Then I've read about that stupid ICT protection from studios. Only legits customers will loose in this situation, not pirates. First, pirates won't care about having more than a 960×540 resolution, which is already better than what you can get for DVD on peer-to-peer programs. I will be the looser in this situation, and I am shocked. Analogue CRT don't support the digital signal, and no way to replace the video input module. Pirates will always find a way to bypass. As a legit customer, I'll have to turn illegal and find something that bypasses the ICT protection that downsamples my movie in order to get the quality I've paid for.

Are you sure this applies to all players? Perhaps it's just the Sony model that will be restricted to 1080i via analog or is it a general problem with all analog connections?

Warner, Disney, Paramount and Fox still haven't said if their titles will have the ICT protection. I don't have HDMI, I have Component that can handle a 1080i signal, and I don't want to just get a downgraded 960x540 resolution. Why blu-ray Harry Potter when I can have it on DVD on my analogue HD set...

I just got a bit puzzled by your remark that you weren't getting everything you should with 1080i, but that has to be a limitation of analog so it isn't really a problem with Blu-ray? When it comes to ICT, we'll just have to wait and see what the studios decide and vote with our dollars.

Here's some good news for you

Sony and Disney say no to ICT:

Fox and Paramount have also stated that they won't use ICT:

That leaves Warner, Universal, and Lions Gate. They'll probably have to do the same thing or face the wrath of the early adopters

Wow, great news!
What I meant from not getting everything from blu-ray with component is that component cables can't get more than 1080i: it can't get 1080p. Nevermind, thanks Marwin for the infos. I'd like to switch that angry icon.
