Default beatboy77's prediction, and other wild speculations...

Josh (beatboy) is on AVS saying there is a major announcement coming from the BDA in the next day that will dwarf the Para/Dreamworks deal and basically end the war.

Any guesses as to what this might be? He just hinted it is studio related?

Any insiders care to comment on this?

I ain't no insider but I would take a jab at it being Warner Brothers. I could be totally wrong.

Maybe MS was at WB yesterday not to get them to go HD-DVD exclusive but to get them to stop from going blu-ray exclusive.

All pure speculation, but I would expect Penton-Man or Paidgeek to know about something as earth shattering as this could be (or at least as beatboy is saying it is) At this point take it with a grain of salt.

I like the sound of it, but I'm certainly not going to hold my breath.

Yup, that is what I would advise as well. I trust P-Man over Josh, no offence to Josf, but P-Man has been very reliable when it comes to these kind of events and he stated pretty categorically that Universal aren't going neutral.

Can you post a link to the thread? I don't see anything started by Beatboy over there.

"Eitherway, if the BDA can finalize this contract that I am privy too, the Paramount announcment will be nothing more then a moot point anyway. And if they do not finalize it, it will just drag this format war on for several additional months, with still Blu-ray winning in the end anyway IMO."

He seems pretty sure. What the heck could it be?

Yeah I wouldn't get your hopes up just yet folks. Sounds to me like someone is just trying to give us false hope!

I don't believe that anyone close to negotiations "this big" would be telling someone on the outside about it. He says he is "privy" to it. I doubt it. But that's just me.

The problem with Josh is that his track record is pretty iffy. He does get it right sometimes, but he has been wrong about stuff in the past.

Just take it with a pinch of salt, and don't pin any hopes on it.

If this were coming from the mighty P-Man or paidgeek I would give it more credence, maybe one of them can chime in, unless of course they are hard at work getting this contract hammered out.

Agreed. No offense, but beatboy77 is NOT an insider the last I checked.

Josh is taking a beating over at avs. It's too bad too. that place is just brimming with asshats at this point. I can't even bring myself to spot there anymore because of the inevitable swarm of trolls and nay-sayers that attack anyone who shows even mild support for Blu-ray. I'm starting to think Billy Gates tossed a few bucks at that site's owners/moderators as well recently.

for what it's worth, I'm thinking this upcoming announcement has to do with certain titles as opposed to studios, specifically some key ones by Spielberg and Lucas. I have a source at Lucas Digital who might know something, I'll ask.

Sometimes I think he pre-announces things just to get a rise out of the crowd.

Certainly one would expect to get a beating for saying things like that

Now that theory might have some merit...
