I belive that to be on the Blu Ray bord od directors they have to pay a fee to be included and I belive that the decesion has to be made before the Holiday season. I could be wrong, but that is what I heard over on the PS3 forums.

Since Blu-ray sales have alway clobbered HD-DVD sales their is no economic reason for Warner going Red. If anything there is justification for them going Blue. We will probably know more during the first quarter of next year.

As for the fact that Warner has plenty of announced titles for future release doesn't hold any water regarding their contract. Paramount had a number of releases announced before their betrayal. 'Blades Of Glory' was to be released on Blu-ray less than 1 week before their defection and they were still toting it as an upcoming Blu-ray release until the announcement was made official. But, my faith in Warner Bros. also leads me to believe that they would not reneg on their announced commitments to their consumers. Here's hoping. |

This works both ways, Universal have every reason to switch to Blu-ray early next year.
The BOGO showed Blu-ray has real buying power once you bring in the PS3 market and those consumers who are more price sensitive. Transformers HD-DVD sold to their core supporters, but were's the potential for growth? Last edited by JAGUAR1977; 10-27-2007 at 10:33 PM. |

When I bought my blu-ray player I knew that I was taking a risk HD DVD might win. But, when I bought my blu-ray player Universal was the ONLY HD DVD exclusive and Blu-ray had been kickin HD DVDs ass in sales for a looooooong while. I thought maybe HD DVD had a chance if there lower priced players actually start selling or if Universal really really strived to release some awesome titles. But NO! none of this happened. I awake one morning and read Paramount suddenly switched to red for $150 million. This was angering the first time and will be even more angering the second time (if Warner does it). I mean if Warner, like Paramount, is not gonna take into account the sales lead Blu-ry has maintained all year then WHAT IN THE HELL IS THE POINT OF A FORMAT WAR???????!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If in the end the studios are just gonna go with who ever bribes them more or whoever their CEOs are friends with why dont they just decide this in the first place? Its like being in the olympics and winning every race but in the end the judges give the #2 guy the gold medal because they like him more or because he gave them a few hundred bucks. If Warner goes HD DVD, all this will show me is that format wars are a waste of my time. I always knew there was a risk when entering the format war but no one ever said one format could win every battle but the other still might win the war. |

The only thing I can see is that WB is waiting till after the holiday season from a release early on they said they were going to watch the install base for stand alone players to see which group is doing what and they wouldn't make a decision till after the holiday season. So my guess is they aren't looking at disk sales numbers as the be all and end all they are going to also take a long hard look at the install base for set top players. This was discussed during the Paramount switch and the questions asked of WB with all the speculation at that time.

Since Warner and New Line have releases coming after October 31, I'm pretty sure they're not going anywhere. |

Paramounts defection may have earned them a few more dollars short term, but their credibility is shot, and MANY hi-def consumers look at them in a very dim light these days. Last edited by JAGUAR1977; 10-27-2007 at 10:15 PM. |

I would only be worried if I was an HD DVD fan since Paramount tried to take the crown from Warner on the highest selling Hi-Def movie by lying. If I was Warner I would be ticked.
And don't forget that Warner's President said they were watching Q4 very closely, which I would take to mean that they will continue to support both formats until at least the end of 2007. |
