I belive that to be on the Blu Ray bord od directors they have to pay a fee to be included and I belive that the decesion has to be made before the Holiday season. I could be wrong, but that is what I heard over on the PS3 forums.

Since Blu-ray sales have alway clobbered HD-DVD sales their is no economic reason for Warner going Red. If anything there is justification for them going Blue. We will probably know more during the first quarter of next year.

You must have saw that troll's thread over on AVS.

Since Warner and New Line have releases coming after October 31, I'm pretty sure they're not going anywhere.

And they just announced the French Blu-ray Group two weeks ago:

Quote:
Posted October 11, 2007 by Josh

Five consumer electronics companies - Sony, Panasonic, Pioneer, Samsung, and Philips - and five movie studios - Gaumont, Columbia Tristar, Walt Disney, Pathé, and Warner Home Video - have come together to promote the Blu-ray format in France. Together, they will act as a unified voice to convince consumers of the benefits of Blu-ray.
They have set a goal to get 600,000 units (stand-alone players and PS3s) in French homes by year end, capturing 90% of the high definition player market. As for software sales, Blu-ray currently holds over 60% of the market in France, and if their player sales goals are achieved, that figure is expected to rise to 80%.
(emphasis mine)

I believe that Warner will either become pro blu-ray, pro HD DVD, or perhaps stay the same.

Plus rumor has it they're not real thrilled with the lies getting spit out by the HD-DVD camp. I'm sure they'll stay with the BDA, if not do more.

Penton-Man (couple of days ago) re. Warner

Quote:
All indications on our side are that they are going to continue to support Blu-ray.
Add the fact Warner/New Line have releases on Blu-ray after the New Year, nevermind October 31st, and the fact Warner are a little p)ssed at Paramounts sales spin.

Paramounts defection may have earned them a few more dollars short term, but their credibility is shot, and MANY hi-def consumers look at them in a very dim light these days.

I'm saying yes, no, maybe neither.
Unless anyone here personally knows the new chief, I doubt they could make an educated guess as to what sort of direction he'd take Warner in HD media and why he'd do it.

Sometimes economics don't play into these decisions. I've seen with my own eyes how well top Warner executive employees get along with the reps from Toshiba. They are very much in a 'best of friends' relationship that could easily cloud judgement. I desperately hope that the numbers play into their opinions... otherwise it scares the hell out of me!

As for the fact that Warner has plenty of announced titles for future release doesn't hold any water regarding their contract. Paramount had a number of releases announced before their betrayal. 'Blades Of Glory' was to be released on Blu-ray less than 1 week before their defection and they were still toting it as an upcoming Blu-ray release until the announcement was made official. But, my faith in Warner Bros. also leads me to believe that they would not reneg on their announced commitments to their consumers. Here's hoping.

This works both ways, Universal have every reason to switch to Blu-ray early next year.

The BOGO showed Blu-ray has real buying power once you bring in the PS3 market and those consumers who are more price sensitive.

Transformers HD-DVD sold to their core supporters, but were's the potential for growth?

.
I feel this way also, it scares me to think this will lead them to go exclusive to their side. But, like Paramount, it would be so stupid doing that since blu-ray has shown better sales numbers than hd-dvd, it did amazingly with transformers and it has done all year long. This is a big factor to consider.

I would only be worried if I was an HD DVD fan since Paramount tried to take the crown from Warner on the highest selling Hi-Def movie by lying. If I was Warner I would be ticked.

And don't forget that Warner's President said they were watching Q4 very closely, which I would take to mean that they will continue to support both formats until at least the end of 2007.

I wonder why they havent put a date yet for their biggest hits not on Blu like Matrix and batman, which i thing as a marketing strategy the will hold it till the dark knight comes out, not that it needs any boost its going to be a HUGE seller.
