Will Blu-ray drives play hd-dvd's?

well sooner or later hybrid drives will appear - that is, if both standards survive the next year
but with the different layer depth it probably isn't a simple thing to do, plus neither company wants to do the other one the honour of making drives for it. so it'll be quite a while.

personally i hope hddvd finally just give it up (or get forced into oblivion) so we avoid the need for such drives.
