I haven't read anything specifically giving a time frame for the Canadian release but I'd be surprised if it wasn't around the same launch time as ours. How big is HDTV in Canada right now? Are HDTVs readily available? Do local networks broadcast in HD in Canada?

unfortunatelly it's not as big. Most of the big manufacturers only release a fraction of hdtv models that are released in states because of an overall smaller market. But it's bound to change as hdtv matures and becomes only option,

I see awareness out there, government is pushing infomercials informing people about the need for change and some local programs are starting to appear in lite hd (720p) albeit very rare .

As far as blu ray release, there is no official word but it makes sense for there be simultaenous release as in the states simply because every other technology is introduced at the same time. I think companies want to avoid smuggling which is why they want to release at the same time.

as with alot of things I expect the canadian release to be along side the us release. as far as hdtv up here you can get it at almost any store but I don't think they are a big thing at the moment. once we see this blue-ray/hd-dvd, ps3 come out things should start picking up as more and more electronics support hdtv
