Default Lucky Number Slevin is region free

I just received my copy of Lucky Number Slevin and can confirm that it is region free. It plays just fine on my Region A Playstation 3 even if the cover has the Region B symbol.

My guess is that most if not all releases from Entertainment in Video will be region free.

I ordered my copy from Sendit:
http://sendit.com/video/item/7001000138083

It's distributed by Weinstein in USA and my guess is that they will go neutral or probably Blu-ray exclusive soon. Lucky Number Slevin will be Blu-ray exclusive both in USA and UK if Weinstein go Blu-ray exclusive!

Other titles released by Entertainment in Video on Blu-ray are:

Gangs of New York
The Phantom of the Opera
Million Dollar Baby
Brokeback Mountain
The Departed
The Crow

I'll order some of these and keep you updated.

I live in Sweden. It's no problem to use the credit card. The amount will be translated to dollars for you. I have bought plenty of titles from USA, Japan, Hong Kong and the rest of Europe (besides Sweden).

You will see the shipping cost then you start to place an order. You will see the cost before the order is sent and confirmed. It depends on the weight. For more info take a look at their site:

Could you be so kind to let us know what video/audio codecs were used, what extras are there and what you think about the VQ/AQ?

Sound: English 5. DTS HD Master Audio 48kHz
Video: VC-1 usually between 25-30 Mbps, sometimes above 30 and sometimes below 25 .
Subtitles: English, No options to them
Extras:
Making of
Commentary by Paul McGuigan
Cast Commentary

I'm no videophile and don't have the best equipment (no HDMI for neither sound nor video and display is a Panasonic PT-500AE 720P projector) and is not good in rating movies. Could not see anything wrong with the mastering but you will have to wait for a professional review if you want more.

He might have been talking about Euros. Here is a page for conversions:

While Lucky Number Slevin is region free, I am afraid that Gangs Of New York, and Brokeback Mountain are region coded "B" and will not play on my Sony region "A" player.

I'll make an order for Brokeback Mountain on Sept. 18. It's not a title I usually would have picked up but I haven't seen it yet and I have heard it's both good and that some shoots are very good for HighDef. I already have Gangs of New York on DVD and don't want to double dip too much.

So do you have those 2 discs and they don't play in your US player, or did you just go by the text on the cover? I would have to get both if they are region free (one for me and one for the wife... you figure out who wants what ). Thanks for the info.

Well, it is on the way from Sendit.com. I have high hopes for it since I previously owned it on HD DVD. I will post my thoughts hopefully this weekend. From all the information I have read it is a region free release. I received the Island a couple of weeks ago and it is a spectacular region free Blu-ray disc.
