Ever since I hooked up the LF-V30 LocationFree Basestation to my Home Network, my laptop no longer shows up on my PS3 to share my media with. When I hooked up everything a few weeks ago, I had to turn on something called DMZ Plus for my laptop for the DirecTV feed to be brodcast through the internet and to my laptop. When I did that, it automatically changed my IP address to my laptop, so I am not usre if that is what's wrong, or what. I've accessed so many help and FAQ's on my computer and at Dell and on the PS3 Forums but to no avail.
Can someone with knowledge about Home Networks or anything else that I haven't tried please give me a step by step on here of how to get my PS3 to locate my laptop again? I am going to be on this forum for a good part of the day today so I can hopefully resolve this issue. Thanks! Last edited by PS34EVER; 10-07-2007 at 05:58 PM. |

EDIT: Or better yet, is there a way that I can use my laptop to add my PS3 using it's IP address to share with it? Last edited by PS34EVER; 10-07-2007 at 07:38 PM. |

I now have it (my laptop) showing up on my PS3, but it says the following:
"Access to the media server is not allowed. It is possible that the system name for this PS3 system, "PS3-706", has not been registered. Check the settings for the media server. --- So? What now. So close! |

Under Windows Media player 11 you have to go to the top and choose: Tools then options. once your in options choose the tab labeled "Library" then choose "Configure Sharing" and then set those machines as allowed that should be for exception you might have to restart the PS3 and the machine, good luck.

Hmm... There used to be two devices listed there (my brothers Xbox 360 and my PS3 which was called "Unkown device." Now, there is nothing there. Do you know how I add my PS3 to that list? It shows up on my PS3 as "Windows Media Player" like it used to, but when I click on it it postes the message that I just left above. I need to find a way for my laptop to now recognize it. Before, it detected it automatically, but now it can't find it. This is really frusterating. ![]() |

I think WMP 11 lets you know the device is trying to connect (you have to allow/accept that device in the program) and then you just follow Kaliraver's instructions. Google conflicting IP addresses or how to set up a static IP address (if that is indeed your issue). |
