Default Target is showing its true BLU!

http://www.twice.com/article/CA6488779.html?nid=2402- Target debuts next generation c.e. electronics departments with BLU, but no sign of the red menace!

It's great for Blu-ray but it is stuff like this that takes away any credibility Target has:

A new dedicated run of home theater systems with additional “better” and “best offerings such as the Bose 3.2.1 HTiB;

Credibility among AV nuts is one thing, but like it or not, Bose is held in very high esteem by the average consumer. So by Target placing BD players right next to "top of the line" Bose system, it's doing nothing but helping put BD players in more homes.

Bose is a great product for the "average" consumer. I know alot of audio nuts don't like them, but its an ok, overpriced product.

Notice I said "average" consumer, and "ok, overpriced"!!!

Way to go Target, no wonder I love shopping there. It is so funny when you go over to AVM$ and those red ants talking about not shopping at Target anymore because of this. Those guys really need to get laid.

And that is how to capture the hearts and souls of the consumer. Get more awareness of the Blu-ray format out there with more everyday exposure.

When it comes time to make their purchase, the customer is going to remember seeing blu players and a larger blu movie selection in Target, blu posters in front of Blockbuster, Sony HD commercials on TV, etc ... HD-DVD will be thought of as that "other" format with the cheap players (clearanced priced?), not as many movie spaces on the shelf, and only one manufacturer making the players.

Customers will equate Blu-ray to the High Definition Format of choice while HD-DVD is the other soon to be discontinued format.

Target is not a HT specialist or an audio shop

The Bose HTiB will probably sound great to a mom&pop putting their first toe in Home Theater at Xmas alongside the new PS3 they got for the kid and to play Blu Rays on the HD TV set...

I was at our Target here in SC today and they had a lot of employees there especially in the electronics department. I had a good feeling it had something to do with Blu players I also notice they were putting Playstation 3 display to make it TWICE the size as before!

I'll go check out my local Target. Just about a block away from my house! I usually don't buy there because the selection is so bad. If it's better then I'll go show my support to them by buying.

Yeah I just today stopped one of my co workers from buying a bose system. He has a PS3 and I asked him if the bose system even had HDMI and hes like "crap, thats a good question" and within minutes I convinced him to get a setup like mine.

And that right there is the problem. It is perpetuating a myth among home audio. Bose isn't any where near 'top of the line' nor should be classified as that even in a store like Target. There are most likely better speaker systems even sold at Target than the extremely over priced and underdelivering Bose 1-2-3 systems.

It would be like charging $800 for the Wii and placing it next to the PS3 and HDTV's. It doesn't belong, and those customers paying top dollar for the system are just getting ripped off.

They are NOT top of the line, you are correct. The problem is the Average person thinks that they are Top of the line. This is because of the great marketing by Bose. Every time we get the AVERAGE person come in our store we are asked if we carry Bose. You dont know how many hundreds of times I hear these customers say Bose are the best. People know the name. This is a great move for Blu team.
