Transformers - one of the biggest releases for HD DVD - has no lossless audo. Which is 50% of the hi-def experience. The reason - not enough space! We are only is the infancy of hi-def, and already there is not enough space. What will happin when longer films start coming out? There wont be a chance of fitting lossless sound. This is really a joke. HD DVD should be put to sleep, sooner rather then later.

The death of HD DUD was last Nov and came in the form of PS3.
What's happening now is an effort to remind the losers that they lost. The HD DUDers are the thickest of sort and they can't take a hint and they hide from the facts but one way or another they will have to deal with it soon enough. -Brian |

Titanic is too long of a movie for a hd-dvd but for blu-ray it would be no problem because the movie itself is over 3 hours just by itself and they wish to put that in a 30Gb disc? black and white picture doesnt sound appealing at all maybe watching the white part would be but not the black and lossless sound? hd-dvd isnt even worthy of it

Lets not forget the slew of BR Players coming out soon too.
What does Toshiba have....3? Sam's Club and BJ's both have big end cap displays filled with the BDP-S300/301's. Then we got the 40Gb PS3 coming soon. Every time the price drops by $100 the units sold per month double. I would say its looking pretty good so far. |

Even with black and white, lossless audio isn't always guaranteed. Take a look at the DD(BD)/DD+(HD) tracks on Good Night and Good Luck, for instance...

I was under the impression that it was bandwidth and not size that was not allowing HD DVD releases to have lossless audio? Either way, it defeats the purpose of the "Look and sound of perfect" (the fact that no industry rep has called them on this is mind blowing).
