Default Woohoo! My Best Buy has increased the Blu!!

The movie section has expanded to 7 blu-ray sections and 4 hddvd sections. They both had one section each days ago. Plus there is a blu-ray sled in the front racetrack aisle. Also home theater now has the Sharp, Sony, and Samsung blu-ray players on the endcaps (I displayed them) but there's also a Toshiba hddvd endcap and a LG combo bh200 endcap. Not to mention the 2 blu-ray playersin the magnolia entrance.

In short, more blu!!!

Yeah mine finally went 6 to 3...I didn't even notice it until I turned around and saw 2 more bays. I wasn't too happy with the employees though...they didn't know a single thing about BD...not even how to spell it.

Is this a new format for all stores? Mine here in Washington is still at 50/50. I have a Target that has the new set up for Blu, but the other Targets I have been in recently still have the old format. The new set though looks very nice!

I'm not sure. All Best Buy stores dont come in the same size. My store is a big store with a high revenue. But I'm sure the bigger Best Buy's will see this increase, since our media dept follow corporate planograms strictly.

Okay, so I went to Best Buy tonight just to see how the sales were doing, plus to see if there were any more BOGO titles I wanted. I walked around to where the BDs are and in its place were HD DVDs. I almost had a heart attack. I looked down the aisle and they had flip flopped the HD DVDs and the Blu-ray discs. But, they expanded the BD section by half and the HD DVD size stayed the same. So there were two shelf sections for HD DVD and Three for BDs. But there is also a rolling display that is about the same size as one of those sections that is devoted to BDs. So now, they have twice as many as HD DVDs. Funny how the HD DVDs looked like they hadn't been touched and the BDs looked picked over, even the new releases only had one or two copies left. They didn't have Transformers in their main HD DVD section, but had them up on their new release section with the DVDs. Funny thing. They only had one space for them and it was mostly full. Something is telling me this isn't going to reach 300 sales. When that came out there were five or six spaces for it and the were mostly sold out.

My Best Buy did this move a few months ago, come to think after reading your statement that at my two local BB there are never many copies of 300 on the sh elfs, but there is on hd-dvd. Makes you think aye.

I posted this somewhere, but it seemed fitting to post it here.
I just went to visit my mother who lives in Homestead (close to Miami) on the way south I stopped at a Best Buy store. I was just at this store a week ago and bought Surf's Up. I just went in to see if they had Final Fantasy since it is on sale for $14.99. There was one copy and I bought it , but that is NOT the story. In the store they always has two sections for Blu and two for HD DVD. When I went to the high def section I noticed that HD DVD had expanded to three sections with only 1 section remaining for Blu-ray. I was like WTF are the idiots crazy. Then I looked towards the left side of the aisle and there were 5 more Blu-ray sections WOW blu-ray went from 2 sections to 6 and HD DVD from 2 to 3. Twice the shelf space for blu ray with signs that say Blu-ray all over! The blu-ray section looks HUGE. It was an awesome rush. I will check others stores over the weekend. The address of the store is 19191 S Dixie Hwy, Cutler Bay. Awesome weekend for us!

Went to the BestBuy on Grand Ave / Bell Rd near Phoenix AZ and their selection was about equal 50/50(many HDDVD titles were repeats though, there was obviously more choice in BR) , except that if you went to the HD player section, their was a real nice choice of BR players and only 1 dusty HD-DVD player (the entry level A20 or something like that). On a LCD was playing a Disney in Blu, and the selection (Sony players, Samsung, LG, Panasonic) was definitely making people think "ok, that odd looking cheap one (Tosh) doesn't look too good, and it's the only one of its type. Why would I want to buy that?"

Now we just need Circuit City to pull their head out of the sand. Between Target jumping on Blu and BB, it would be nice to have this chain get it together!

Tuesday when I went to Best Buy they had finally expanded. They had always been 2 sections ea. before and now were 5B/4H. Blu looked more barren. OKC 63rd/May.

My local Best Buy here in las vegas has only about 4 rows of HD DVD and there is a complete isle only for BD on the other side.
PS:They match the BOGOF from circuit city so if you have your receipt go to your local best buy and get any title with the price match.
