Default This could be very good news for Blu-Ray

I know this is not the best rule of thumb, but I'm going to quote someone from the HD Software Media News thread at AVS and once you read this I think you'll see why I did.

I'm quoting a well respected forumer from there who's referring to someone whose name I suspect needs no introduction.

Quote:
It should be remembered here that Stacey has tested the resolution of the Samsung player using his own VC-1 material, and had this to say: "For the record, when I play VC1 resolution test patterns and video on both HD DVD and BD (the same content) it looks virtually identical. If the NR is on, it may only be on for MPEG2."

I hope that there is an easy fix for the Samsung player, and that Samsung engineers simply made a stupid mistake, but this cannot be predicted with any certainty. Other problems with Faroudja chips have been very hard to track down and fix. Nor can it be said that the fix will somehow make the execrable software any better.
Keep in mind: Stacy Spears, who is being referred to in this post, is one of several people who has worked WITH Microsoft and makes no secret of his preference for their codecs.

I'm not trying to read into this too much, I found this tidbit to very interesting and something you all could chew on, if nothing else.
