This is something that has been bugging me for a while now but; how many people here repleace their Blu-ray cases, for what ever reason?
![]() Because I recently bought a couple of BDs where the cases were a bit tatty; one was a bit cracked and the other was quite badly stratched, and this has annoyed me since they're meant to be new. The trouble is I have pretty recently been a bit of a firm believer in having everything original when I bought it, regardless of how common the packaging is. It's sad I know and I even annoy myself with it, and I really need someone to come along and say 'no, it's alright to replace cases'. So can you help me? ![]() |

I replace all my broken or damaged Amaray plastic BD cases with newer ones.
My local video store throw them out in the garbage, all the plastic BD cases, so now they keep few of them for me every week (about a dozen) and I got them for free. So I simply take the opportunity to do what I'm offered for free. * My place is simply nuts! I got DVDs, Blu-rays, HD DVDs, CDs, SACDs, DVD-Audios, CD-Rs, LPs, VHS, ![]() What can I say, I'm in my movies and my music, that's where reality is for me. Science Fiction is the real outside life. The government is an Horror flick. The cities are the Apocalypse of destruction. Only in my movies that I can breathe and relax and go swimming at the lake, and go to war without being killed, that's real life! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by LordoftheRings; 06-03-2010 at 01:02 AM. I replace broken cases (and possibly others that are simply scratched, dirty, or anything) whenever possible.
I've started replacing the thick UK cases with thinner ones. Have to trim off a millimeter of the artwork though. ![]() I'll group certain movies together whenever possible (such as sticking both "District 13" movies on one two-disc case; artwork shows on both sides). I'll use multi-disc cases to hold Blu-Rays and DVDs together if I have both (very common for movies that have more extras on DVD than on BD. If I'm using a huge amound of discs (like I have 5 discs for "T2," 4 DVDs and 1 BD) then I'll use a 5-disc case and make new artwork (I plan to anyway!)). Few websites sell replacement cases. This thread should help: https://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-mo...se-thread.html Last edited by Al_The_Strange; 06-02-2010 at 03:20 PM. Reason: Added another point |

![]() ![]() Surely it's better to keep the selves in the same sized cases, as it was designed for that size, than trim a bit of artwork off just to put it in thinner ones? ![]() Sorry, but I would NEVER do that. |

Now I feel like a nut.
![]() ![]() ![]() It's purely an aesthetic choice for me. The thick cases stick out to me, and I like them better when they match the other cases. I think it's especially frivilous since most of these only have one disc in them! I make my collection match my personal wants and needs, and nobody else's; it's not like I plan on reselling these titles or keeping them in 100% mint condition. I'm adjusting them for practical (and hopefully regular) usage. I figure trimming a slight end off is no big deal. Very little of the overall image and information is lost, if any at all. Heck, these inserts almost could fit in a regular case; they're just off by a hair or so. I managed to get my UK copy of "Inglourious Basterds" to fit in a regular case without trimming; it's brilliant! I decided that I liked it that way so much that I wanted to do the same to all the other UK movies I had; they just wouldn't work as easily. All that being said, I'm still not trimming/replacing cases that have multiple discs or copies, ones with slipcovers, or any of the region B titles I have. |
