Yes. It upconverts. Doesn't your TV display 1080p when you turn on the DVD?

Upscaling WAS added in a firmware update, so I do suggest updating to the latest and greatest. Secondly, you need to go to your settings and be sure that the upscaling is actually turned on.

I think the default setting on mine was "off" for upconverting so check the settings. My PS3 looks much better for DVDs then my upconverting Denon DVD-1920

Go to settings on the PS3 and then go to BD/DVD Settings, under that there is a DVD Upscaler option and set it to Normal

that should do it.

I can't take it anymore!!!! Must be a troll. It's not too hard to realize a firmware upgrade is needed.

are you running it through hdmi, because ps3 will only upconvert via hdmi. just go to bd/dvd settings, it should be there, unless you need to update firmware.

Yeah, the only reason I can think of that it wouldn't be there is if you don't have an older version of the firmware...update, then check back.

The firmware will update everything. It was version 1.90-2 I believe that brought upconverting of DVD's. So if you have an older version than that, thats your answer.

If your PS3 is wireless, just select update system in the system menu and its all done for you automatically.

If your not wireless, that link above tells you how to copy the software to a storage device (CD/DVD/Memory card).

Lol, not sure about EVERYONE ELSE, but if there is an update out for my PS3, I can't do pretty much ANYTHING until I update. It says "THERE IS AN UPDATE AVAILABLE". You must install it otherwise you can't do much.

Also, yes - you need to TURN ON upconvert.

If you need further assistance - please read your manual.

If your wireless I can understand it, since the system is prompted when it handshakes the website.

For beginners, going wireless is pretty much compulsary. Thats the problem with consoles going all techy, half the users don't know how to perform the necessary functions.

When I asked the question last week - I was told the setting was "Full Screen" - is that correct?

My PS3 upconverts through component. I know I should get a hdmi reciever but Im already on my second reciever in 3 years and I dont think 24 months should mean your reciever is obsolete damnit. I guess with TVs, DVD, blu rays computers and recievers its almost a wash if you had a fire every other year, I mean they are all outdated anyway right?
