Lightbulb Idea For the BD GROUP

Ok, so some say the PS3 BLU RAY capability is unknown to some PS3 owners. Now if this is true, wouldn't it be beneficial to the BD Group to send out one
(1) BLU RAY movie to each registered owner of a PS3 with a note introducing them to the world of BLU RAY ?

Or just include a movie in every PS3 box. Better yet an "instant" rebate at the store where they purchase they're player. Frankly I hate with a passion those mail in rebates.

What they are doing is including it in every 40GB one (at least for now), which means that anybody who buys that model gets a movie right away, and those who look at what they get with each model but ultimately choose the 80GB one still have a good chance of seeing that the other one came with a Blu-ray movie.

Default I hate the mail in too

The 5 free Blu-Ray with the PS3 was the first mail in SCAM I have ever experienced.

We tried to get three but they were sent back as not having the UPC which was taped to the letter they sent back. When we sent it back again they said the Movies were not on the Authorized list... Even though the brochure said A lionsgate title, a Disney title, etc. They said they would send a list of titles which were on the list. We are still waiting and the mail in rebate cupons expired some 3 months ago.

I am thinking of sending it to my State DA.

"A Disney title" is not the same thing as "any Disney title". There is a list of titles that you can choose from on the rebate form and you can choose a Disney title from the choices. Did you try to get different titles than the rebate is for?

Most rebates or mail in offers have pretty strict guidelines and the companies that do the promotions for the company offering the rebate etc follow the guidelines exactly. Even though the BDA are offering the free movies, they are not to fulfillment company. There have been a couple times I have gotten "screwed' out of rebates that I never heard back from after sending them in. Sounds like you didn't use the actual form you can print from the internet or that came with the PS3. Typically you get to choose from a list of a few movies, not any movie you want.

This forum has multiple discussion threads regarding this rebate, including this sticky which lists the website and direct customer service number (Consumer Order Lookup, 1-800-598-9671) for finding updates on one's rebate. I respectfully suggest your state DA would find pursuing the matter a waste of time.

I think this is a great idea. Maybe the "Experience Blu" disc would be the one to send out...

Some PS3 purchasers may not have received a BD disc with the player which is why I believe the BDA should send a Blu Ray movie to every registered PS3 owner just in case they DON'T realise it can play Blu Ray Movies !

Has everyone upgraded to the latest upgrade yet?

If so, then my idea for educate PS3 owners is to use the new Information Bar to right out tell every PS3 user that ALL PS3s can play Blu-ray and perhaps advertise the 5 free movies or other free movie deal with it.

I dont think that would matter. Most do not have HDTV's so they would watch the disc and not see any improvemnt on their current TV's which could be a blow to BR. People thinking that HD disc look no better then SD DVD's.

Also most who own an HDTV probably doesnt have it hooked up correctly
