Default Onkyo Remote Control Question

I have the Onkyo TX-SR705 and the remote control can be used as a universal remote. I set it up w/ all of my home theater devices including TV, BD Player, Cable Box, CD Player, and VCR (lol). You can program up to three macros with the remote that can handle up to 8 functions. For example, I programmed the first macro to "Watch TV." The functions to do this are:

1. Focus Cable Box
2. Power on Cable Box
3. Focus Receiver
4. Power on Receiver w/ Cable/Sat Input
5. Focus TV
6. Power on TV
7. Focus Cable Box

The problem w/ these macros is that no matter what I set it to focus as the last step, the remote automatically focuses the device that was last used by the remote before the macro was set. Does anyone know if there is some sort of work-around or if I'm doing this wrong?

Thanks!

I have the 805 and I tried to set my remote up with my Sony LCD tv and it didn't work. There were like 5 or 6 codes to program with but not one of them would turn the tv on. I gave up on it, I'm surprised that you were able to get as far as you did with the remote. I will probably be getting a harmony but post here if you can get it to finally work!

You're most likely doing it incorrectly (which is not your fault -> the directions are pretty crappy). I couldn't get any of my devices working at first, until I figured out I was doing it wrong. I guarantee your TV is supported.

Follow these steps (I'm pulling them from memory):

Press and hold the TV button in the "Remote Modes" section and then Press the Standby Button. Let go. The light will blink a few times. Enter the code slowly. After you enter the last digit, wait for the remote to blink two times. Now press TV again in the "Remote Modes" section. Now press "On" at the top of the remote. I guarentee one of the codes will work. My devices ranged from over 10 years old (the vcr and cd player) to just released (BD Player).
