I guess a few of these would be in your price range.

Panamax is a really good brand for it.

I am using a Panamax, they really are better than monster and you can find them for the same prices. I have the MAX5400EX, it will be out of your budget ($750), but thats what I am using.

It depends on your setup as to what you really need. I do not have a large home theater. I have the Panamax 4300-pm that retails for $250. I got it for $150 on ebay brand new in the box. Panamax and Monster make some very nice ones. You just need to qualify your needs. The conditioner does make your picture a little clearer. I noticed that immediately.

Default Panamax

I'm using Panamax on two TVs, they are great. I think prices start at around $300 cause that's how much the smaller one was, than the bigger one was around $700.

I know that's more than $200, but I think its worth it, cause you'll notice a cleaner picture and sound (not a whole lot), but it's mainly for protection. If you shop around you might get a good deal on them, if not you at least get Reward Points at Best Buy .

Have fun shopping, and let us know which one you got and how you like it.

I've heard great things about Monster, they do cost a bit less, but have never had one.

I realize that these thing protect your equipment, but so does a surge protector. Why should I spend $700 on one of these? Is it really necessary??

I was reading this wondering the same. I have a friend that lives in an old house and he sometimes has problems with power but if your home has adequate power then... ?

I didn't know NASA used Panamax. It appears I'm in good company.
I have two, the old 5400 with orange lights and an analogue meters and the newer 5400Ex with the blu glow and digital meters. I know people don't want to pay for them but... well that's your affair isn't it. I love mine.

What is the difference between a power conditioner and a surge protector? I right now have a surge protector, but why would it be worth getting a power conditioner?

Power conditioners (voltage regulators) act as suppliers of proper levels of voltage into electrical equipments (they improve the quality of the supplied voltage), while surge protectors are designed to protect electrical devices from voltage spikes.

Surge protectors should be replaced after a while because over time they lose their ability to protect against power surges and they simply act as a power strip.

Look into PurePower. It has features no other power conditioner has and the reviews are incredible.
