Default Bluray vs broadbast

Is it possible to deinterlace 1080i to possibly match to 1080p?.

If an Hd broadcast is 1080i30, does that mean there are 30 fields a second, so 15 frames per second?.So normal deinterlacing would cause fast scene blurriness and 1/2 the frame rate?.

It seems many deinterlace to 1080p, but I don't see how thats possible when the frame rate is lost, fast scene blurriness should be a secondary concern.

it its, wouldn't having 1080i60 remove the point of having less bandwidth?.

Most HD broadcast is 1080i60. Nothing I know of is at 1080i30. Even animation at 15fps is transmitted at 30 interlaced to 60.

Deinterlacing of 1080i to 1080p is not only a possibility, it's an actuality in a select few 1080p displays, IIRC front projectors and receivers.

Most are at 1080i60?.That makes no sense, if 1080i has 1/2 the resolution of 1080p because its interlaced, but the frame rate is doubled, doesn't it technically have the same bandwidth usage?, at 1/2 resolution and double frame rate?.

Believe me, it makes sense, and it has half the bandwidth, which is why it's used. Think of 1080i as 540p with respect to the quantity of visual information being transmitted.

The frame rate is not doubled. Displays until recently typically operate at 50 or 60 Hz, not 30. Some now will do 72, 96, or even 120.

The only displays operating at lower frequency were film projectors, and even those double flash each frame to operate at 48 Hz. 24 or 30 would flicker so much it would be pretty unwatchable.
