An oppertunity has arrived where i can get this set at well below retail and i just wanted some feed back on how well this pairs up with a PS3 or as use for a PC monitor? I was holding out for an xbr4 but i really can pass this up if availible. Any burning issues, anything other isses out of the ordinary? Whatever you have come upon that is not normal or what you expected no matter how studpid please share.

Probably not because CNN & Fox break often for commercials, and 5 minutes of car commercials/Captain Morgan/Pizza Hut/Verizon etc. should refresh the pixels enough to avoid burn in.

Not as long as you tuned the set to a full-frame moving picture for about 15 min. before turning the set off. What you want to avoid is carelessness--i.e. opening your DVD or Bluray player to remove or change a dics and get sidetracked for 20 minutes making yourself a sandwich in the kitchen, while the product logo just sits there unmoving, taking up the entire screen.

I often leave my PS3, 360 and DirecTV on/paused and get sidetracked for hours sometimes; my DirecTV Hr20 has a moving screensaver so I should be ok there, but the game systems just dim darker. I currently have a Sony 42LCD and never had a problem, and since I heard newer plasmas had burn-in protection by moving pixels that sit still, I thought I would be ok.... So will I be screwed and should I just get a new LCD instead? Is it only bright colors that burn in, what about black from sitting paused or the edges of the screensaver? Please explain if you can. I really want a 1080p 50+" plasma, but not if its going to burn in without extra routines to operate properly. |

Burn in doesn't really happen anymore you will have the "cnn" logo if its on for a while you then switch to a still picture ps3 menu or something but as soon as you have any motion its gone. It may not be the best monitor since the way plasma handles AA but it would be a better tv than the xbr imo, so if you want to read blu-ray.com on it maybe you should get the xbr if you want to watch movies play games get a plasma.

A serious burn-in will leave a visible ghost image that will be visible over everything that you choose to watch. Early plasmas were susceptible to this, but most new (if not all) plasmas have been improved to avoid this. Just a little TLC for the first 100 hours of use will go a long, long way! As far as the choice between LCDs and Plasmas .... LCD's are best for a room where ambient light can't be controlled too well (i.e. a bright living room with lots of sunlight) and plasmas are best for a room that has better light control (blinds over windows, drapes, etc.) Of course, at night the playing field is even so its up to you to know when you'll be spenidng the most time in front of your set. |

Panasonic has introduced new phosphors inside their plasmas so no burn-in's will happen unless you are retarded enough to put some picture paused on your screen for more than a day, although the ps3 does have the fuction where it dims the screen if you don't use your ps3 for couple minutes.

The other thing is if you watch action movies or sports with lots of fast movement. Plasma is your best friend with super fast response times... LCD is kinda the lazy eye here and you will have streaking. Keep that in mind. |
