The new TV series AQUARIUS (2015) has been acquired by Anchor Bay for release on Blu-ray and DVD. Anchor Bay is promising that this will be the uncut version of the series, with some bonus content.

Definitely the director's cut versions. Sticker on front says "Exclusive Unrated, Extended Episodes not seen on TV" and I definitely heard and saw some things that weren't in the broadcasts on the couple of eps I watched, including some F-bombs.

Uncut BD version also contains nudity, sex scenes, as well as coarse language.

Would like to purchase S2, but it got a DVD only release in Australia. Not going to spend money on a DVD release, let alone a sped-up PAL one...

Was hoping Starz/Anchor Bay would do a S2 BD release in the US as UK is only doing a DVD release (again, PAL).

Will purchase the French Blu-Ray of S2, unless Germany/US does a BD release. At this stage, the French look like the only country willing to do a BD release.

Only concern, the French BD back cover does state PAL on the back, but I hope that this it is simply because the release is in a PAL region.
If it is, I would still prefer a 1080i/50 version, then an upscaled native Aussie 576i/50.

Please let us know which version of S2 you get, and what you think of the quality.

It doesn't seem as though S2 will be released on home video in the US. At least, I haven't heard anything about a release.

I'm not aware of any French discs that are also viewable on US software. I do have a multi-region deck.

Will do. I have a US model BD player (utilising a 240v-110v stepdown transformer) that I play all my region A discs on now, and verify Region A playability with. If there are any PAL compatibility issues with the French AQ S2, it will show up on that player... Can't decode PAL at all (like 98% of US players).

Eg. Buck Rogers - The Complete Series (Aussie release) had some 1080i/50 extras. Player would simply not play these.

I emailed Anchor Bay last night and expressed my hopes for a Season 2 US BluRay. This was their response:

Yes there are talks of releasing Aquarius Season 2 in the U.S. but the format has not been confirmed nor a street date.

So, that's hopeful. At least it wasn't a flat-out rejection.

The format not being confirmed might imply that only DVD is being considered. Or, maybe BD only?

I wish that would be the case (a distributor game enough to only do a BD release).

I can't recall a new release TV series to get a BD release, but no DVD. Unfortunately, the aging technology of DVD still remains to be the physical media of choice... Especially for TV series.

I dream of a world where I hear someone asking a clerk, with a new release BD film/TV series in their hand "Is this available on DVD?" and the clerk responds "No, it is on Blu-Ray only", rather than the reality of BD not being available.

Was hoping that DVD would slowly disappear, like VHS did.
But, sadly, people don't see the benefit of BD over DVD.

I hope Anchor Bay does release on DVD and a BD along with it.
I was going to get the French S2 BD, but I have a bad feeling it will be a 1080i/50 transfer!

While a 1080i PAL transfer would be way better than the Aussie/UK native 576i PAL DVD transfer, I hate PAL speedup, with a passion.
Would much prefer a 1080p/24 BD OR and NTSC DVD even. At least then my US BD player can upscale to a 1080p/24 picture and the pitch and speed won't be off.
Don't want to have to watch one season in 24fps and then notice theme music difference and higher toned voices with a 25fps (sped up 4%) second season.

Disney only released Daredevil season 1 on BD, no DVD in sight... but that could be because why would anybody pay for inferior quality when you can get it better than DVD on Netflix. That's how I'd see it anyway.

I saw season 2 but I didn't really see much they could uncensor, with season 1 you could tell. Since this got cancelled, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't do it at all. I thought season 2 was better, it finally got to the point of the show but then it got cancelled, maybe they shouldn't have spent so much time in season 1 doing stuff that didn't matter as much.
