So I'm studying Film and Business, and for the practical film module the tutor said: If you don't have a script soon, I'm going to be angry. So please help me with script ideas. So a couple of rules:

1) It has to be a fish-out-of-water premise, as in someone/thing in a place you don't expect them (the tutor is not too tough on sticking to the brief, so feel free to go off the wall about it).
2) It has to be filmed with a £300-£400 budget
3) Not too complicated. The simpler the better.
4) 8-10 minutes long.

I was coming up with ideas like:
--A Prisoner escapes from prison to find his escape boat hasn't turned up.
--A police officer goes insane after spending ten years on a case
--A bully is lured/tricked into the woods and is shot by the victims

but all were rejected as they were to complicated or character driven (bullsh*t I know). He liked the first one, but the idea is too short and would only last a minute.

Any help is much appreciated. My group has got very little.

EDIT: I also thought it would be a great talking point as well for short film ideas.

How about a Muslim woman in a full burqa in any Western setting?

You don't even have to show any agitation. Just the mere fact that she looks out of place is enough to provide visual tension.

A teenage boy gets hit by a car, and while he's unconscious, he dreams he's a 30 year-old man who lives on a farm with a wife and young daughter. He works on that farm until old age, eventually dying at age 70. Even though he lived every single year as an older man, he wakes up as the teenage boy, still lying on the ground. Only now he's surrounded by people. He asks them what happened? They tell him he got hit by a car and has been knocked out for a few minutes. But in those few minutes, he lived another man's entire life, and it felt that long as well. He can still remember working on the farm, arguing with his wife, going to his daughter's high school graduation, etc.

That idea is gold. Just reading it was amazing. It's the sort of high-concept idea I'd love to make into a short film, but everyone else would be against it. I'll try though. You should write the script for it

This is the sort of thing the tutor wants. Simple, but can go off in many different directions. I'll suggest it as well.

I just had a 7 year deja-vu after reading your comment and I found the source.

Wow! You mean you and your group who are studying/majoring in this subject cannot think of any ideas and you have to ask people at bluray.com??? Maybe its time for a change in major, yes? Or wait, heres and idea: in a world where movies are made daily and ideas are everywhwre there is a group of students who are in a class and are assigned a fairly easy project but dont have any idea what to do. As sad as it this sounds it could be a comedy?

Oh, here's another good one: maybe he could follow a genuinely pleasant, upbeat person's initial forays into the snarky douchebaggery of internet forums.

Talk about your fish out of water.

This thread made me think for a few hours. What if this life we're in now is just the dream of someone else?

I have tons of ideas (I've written 10 scripts), but each have been rejected. The tough thing is thinking of a simple plausible idea which the lecturer will like. Thinking on the spot is hard as nails, so I just thought I'd post it up here. There's no harm in it. We aren't even marked on the script anyway (I just need a sort of starting block or good basis).

That is mental. You should still write it into a script

I actually already suggested your satirical idea earlier today, but they just shrugged it off. Comedies are a b*tch as they are so easy to piss up, so maybe it would be better as a cross between an artsy film (8 1/2) and a found footage (Cloverfield/Man Bites Dog). It's not really what he's looking for anyway.

Nah. It's kind of already been done in The Life Before Her Eyes, only she saw what the rest of her life would've been like if she survived.

Hope you don't get caught soliciting for ideas. Doesn't this constitute cheating? You're in college. Do your own work.

But don't you know. It's easier for someone else to do your work. And then take credit for it.
