Smile Players that send TrueHD and DTS-HD-MA to receiver

Hey everyone... sorry is this is another thread about this topic but may be nice to have one place where ppl can list all the BR players that will send TrueHD and DTS-HDMaster Audio via HDMI to a receiver for processing.

I find it hard as hell reading the player specs on websites and trying to figure out what does what!

So as far as I know, the following players will send DTS-HD-MA and TrueHD to a receiver for processing:

The Panasonic 30 model
Samsung 1400

Are there anymore? I want to buy one soon and would love some feedback

JUST SAW the MASTER list... sorry... please delete this post mods

There will not be any new announcements until CES in Jan. But there are the rumors that both the 500 and 2000 will get MA with a FW update. Sometime either just before or after the Holiday.

I NEED the Panny 30... damn Panasonic Canada...

The only BR player I would consider right now, got the PS3 but want more from my audio now as I have a new Onkyo receiver.

Those are the only three, but I'd be willing to bet that the Sony 500 and 2000 will have a fimware update to enable bitstreaming of DTS-MA in the near future. They are new machines and I'm pretty sure they have the hardware capable of bitstreaming DTS-MA. I wouldn't hold out though, get the Panny 30!

And then there's the upcoming players:

LG BH200 (Blu-ray/HD DVD combo)
Samsung BD-UP5000 (Blu-ray/HD DVD combo)
Denon DVD-3800BDCI
Denon DVD-2500BTCI

are all supposed to bitstream both audio formats. Also, if the S500 and the S2000ES get the firmware update, it seems likely the HES-V1000 will as well.

Honestly, I know Denon will put out quality players, so no need for criticism there. But I will say with huge disappointment, that Sony is just dropping the ball left and right. How can they NOT have bitstream or decoding of DTS-HDMA on any of there players. They are supposed to be spearheading the BD revolution, yet always seem to be a step behind, even with their flagship ES player. My PS3 has been put on the side due to the non-DTS audio upgrade. They have had a year to get this up and running. I went out and bought the Panny 30 about 3 weeks ago and honestly, may never buy another Sony product again. If the Pioneer wasn't $500 more I would have bought that instead, but I like to save some money. I have had a bad taste in my mouth about Sony lately. Before I started buying Elite receivers about 5 years ago, I owned nothing but Sony for about 15 years. Maybe I am just *****ing, but anyone else feel this way too? I just find it hard to believe that Sony cannot put out a player that has all the features people want.

Well said. That's why I sold my S300 for the Panny BD30. I've had my Onkyo 805 receiver since July and wanted the HD audio codecs. All I can say is the HD audio REALLY makes a difference over LPCM.

Same here, I've had my Integra DTC-9.8 since Aug. I have been waiting on Sony to release a firmware update so the PS3 could stream the new audio formats to it. Then i found out it may/can't do it but will do internal decoding, then enter the BD30 problem solved! I sold the PS3 and have beed amazed at just how much better the SQ is bitstreaming vs. LPCM. Sony needs to pick up the pace or they will get left behind their fellow BD hardware friends.

Yep. I am more than impressed with the BD30 SQ bitstream to my Onkyo.
