Default Wolf/Frankenstein...NO SPECIAL FEATURES!

Okay, I just received my 3-disk Horror Classics Collection (Dracula, Wolf, and Frankenstein)...Well, by reading the back of these disks it appears there are ZERO special features for Wolf and Frankenstein.

WHAT A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!!

I hope when I put them in my BD player I will see they are there, but according to the packaging, there are only features for Dracula.

C'mon SONY!!!!!! Put some features on here other than BD-LIVE!

I am at work right now and won't know until this evening.

I don't think the dvds of those titles had any features either. Really though, it's not surprising Sony didn't want to produce new features for those 2 titles.

Not even a trailer! I hate it when that crap happens. To me, I would want to load these disks up with stuff for people so they might want to buy them on Blu. This is so dag gone frustrating!

Were they advertised as having any features? Seems weird you'd be surprised otherwise, when you can find pre-release specs all over the internet.

Hey, you got a point. When I looked on the Internet, all I saw was, "No details on features yet."

I assumed there would be some b/c it was first time on Blu.

I shouldn't have assumed...but still frustrating none the less. I am not disappointed I own them...just disappointed in the fact there are no features. Would have been nice to have had some behind the scenes features.

Here is a link to Blu-ray.com's news from August 3rd on Wolf and Mary Shelley's Frankenstein which confirms no extras for both:

Blu-ray.com

And from the same date, DVD Times UK's news that reveals the specs are 1080p and DTS-HD MA English 5.1:

DVD Times

The DVD for Wolf was movie-only while the DVD for Mary Shelley's Frankenstein was trailer-only.

I think ALL releases should have the movie's trailer-- it's a reasonable
expectation that many releases ignore

Because of this line from the News, "No special features have been listed for 'Wolf' or 'Mary Shelley's Frankenstein."

I assumed they just had not advertised them yet. Again, I assumed there might be some.

Yes, it is my fault for assuming, but Sweet Lord, at least a trailer or something.

If the trailer includes music from another source, it has to be cleared for distribution again, if not they have to replace the music. This can be a hassle due to the new music having to be edited to match the trailer(s) so its easier to just leave the trailer(s) off the release.

I know that Pearl Harbor's teaser trailer had the music changed for the DVD and BD.

+1 Sony never said these were getting any features, so there really should have been no surprise. Full specs were available weeks before the release date.

Good point.

Well, I hope at least the BD PQ and AQ are stellar.

I'm assuming you haven't seen DVDBeaver's reviews, then... "Wolf" & "Mary Shelley's Frankenstein."

Also, at least, we're getting a US release of "Mary Shelley's Frankenstein" in a widescreen format. I don't recall the DVD being widescreen... only pan & scan.

CC

EDIT: Well, you just beat me to the reviews, rg.

that's interesting that you would use that example-- I remember that trailer and I loved the music-- and I wanted that trailer! The same music is used in the final attack sequence from the war film "The Thin Red Line"

I think the old DVD was open matte, actually, not pan and scan. Still, nice to see it in its OAR.

The original Frankenstein DVD was a "flipper" with the widescreen version on one side and the full screen version on the other side. Later, that edition went OOP, and only the full screen version was available (this was the disc that turned up in the cheapie Wal-Mart bin).

The Wolf DVD was one of the earliest DVDs, and while it did have an anamorphic widescreen transfer, it had no extra features.

Watched Wolf tonight and WOW, that movie does NOT hold up at all. Just totally falls apart halfway through and has an embarrassing ending. What a shame, even at $5 I feel ripped off.

90's Frankenstein is still excellent though. Watched it a few months ago.

Bought the standalone for Wolf a few days ago and gotta say that the 3 1/2 stars it got for pq was a little overly generous. More along the lines of 2 1/2 to 3 in my book.
