Audio Settings - Blu-ray Forum

Ok so my PS3 is my Blu-Ray player but I have some questions on what audio settings I should have. I have HDMI video, but Optical Audio. My reciever is a Sony ES and does not have HDMI input. My question is should I have my settings to Bitstream or Linear PCM?

And also can you explain the difference in a simple way? Is the only difference is that PCM uncompresses the audio file before it sends it to the reciever?

Linear PCM, via optical can only output 2 channel (left and right). Your only option for multi-channel 5.1 surround sound via optical is bitstream.
