Default ps3 audio settings

Ill be setting up my new surround sound system later this week. Sony strdg720 receiver and polk rm6750 speakers. On the ps3 should I just check off everything that's 5.1 or 5.1 and the 2.0 options?

The PS3 will actually tell you on some of the more obscure options whether or not you want to check them. The ones that come pre-checked do tend to be the one's you'll be using unless you're using some really fancy equipment. I have the 720 as well and you don't need them all, just the main three that come up.

In case you didn't know, set the output to Bitstream because PCM tends to flatten the sound out IMO. It still sounds good, but not as good as it could.

Wrong. Very wrong.

Setting a PS3 to bitstream guarantees you a lossy soundtrack. You MUST use PCM over HDMI to get lossless. If it sounds 'flat' that's because you've forgotten to turn dynamic compression off or haven't matched your levels. Don't confuse a volume change with a change in audio quality.

[sarcasm] also set your video settings to output in 480p. the 720/1080 options make the TV just too realistic for my taste. its like your not even watching TV anymore. [/sarcasm]

blu1183,
The quoted are all correct. What kind of equipment do you have. We can give better detail with that info.
