PS3 marketing, it's begun - Blu-ray Forum

Now Europe may not be getting the console for a few months yet, but here's an interesting thing. I'm watching a bit of footie (soccer for those in the US), and checking out one of the ad boards around the pitch, what do I spy?

One big word, occupying a whole board:

PlayStation3

I'm wondering if, despite the delay, Europe might be able to pre-order (officially) before Christmas? It certainly seems Sony have "gone live" with marketing. This is the first official ad I've seen, the first of many I bet...

sony will be marketing the hell out of the ps3 i can't wait for the buzz to begin because it will spill over to blu-ray and hopefully more movies will get released

Oh you mean the Champions League games? Saw that too, hahaha.

That's the one! It was repeated around the pitch, I guess it is part of Sony's sponsorship, though I imagine this was all planned before the Euro delay was announced.

Still, it doesn't hurt to plant the idea in peoples heads that PS3 is on the way. And if we can preorder before Christmas Sony may save a few lost sales that may have gone to the 360.

But yes, I want to see PS3 and blu-ray everywhere over the next few months.

Getting blu-ray now is a waste, only a hand full of movies out so far, Ps3 are gona be sold out so november is out of the question. Even so, not any good games at launch. In fact i have found out that PS3 wil not be getting any game titles I would like anytime soon. I know it's blu-ray playback is gona be limited, so maybe I should just hold till a cheaper standalone player comes along. But if not then PS3 it is. I mainly want it for Blu-Ray movies than games. I will have the Wii for that.
