Default Enchanted or the Golden Compass

Just wanted to pick some of your brains. My GF and I are debating whether to see the Golden Compass or Enchanted tonight... I've read mostly positive stuff on Enchanted, and very mixed stuff about the Golden Compass. Any thoughts or comments to steer us in the right direction?

Thanks all!

Not a fan of Pullman's work so Enchanted gets my vote.

I've seen both. I thought The Golden Compass was enjoyable and great if you are in the mood for an epic. I thought of it along the same lines of The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe in terms of enjoyability. However, my vote would go to Enchanted for being such a refreshing comedy unlike one I've ever seen before. The leading lady's (Amy Adams) performance is well worth your money alone.
Enjoy! (whichever one you two choose)

With the way the box office is starting (worse than Evan Almighty) I think the odds of the next one getting made are probably slim.

We ended up seeing Enchanted last night. Excellent Disney movie overall, they took a cliched storyline and actually did something original with it. Amy Adams as the "Disney princess in a real world" was amazing, a breathe of fresh air. Highly recommended, even to those who usually cringe at these types of movies, it was very funny, and Disney poked fun at itself, and obviously had a blast doing it!

avoid The Golden Compass at all costs, what a waste of my time that was, a movie not for the adult mind only for 10 or younger.

Absolutely Compass

How anyone could say it's for the 10 and under set is beyond me, I would debate taking anyone under 8 to it because there are some traumatic scenes.

And yes, unless it holds (unlikely) or explodes on video, I doubt we'll see more of them

They did film the ending, so the inevitable EE won't cliffhanger. They decided to save it for the second movie
