I thought there was a Washington DC area playdate for the films? guess they are still being finalized.

This movie looks interesting. According to IMDb, if this is the version that's being released, the run time for the Director's Cut is 280 minutes. I don't know if I'm the only one, but does anyone else like lengthy movies?

I thought I had always read the director's cut was five hours in length - granted 280 is 20 minutes shy of five hours - still ...

It would depend on the movie of course..

I had seen this movie in my teens.
I don't remember anything at all but I remember it was very interesting.
I doubt though that it's a film that you can easily watch 4,5 hours.

I saw the director's cut of this in the theater at a film festival, with Wenders introducing the film and doing a Q&A afterward. I recall there being no subtitles for the non-English parts, but there was a handout with English dialogue for those bits. I think. At any rate, I thought it was a much better film in its uncut form.

The director's cut is one of the greatest films ever made, it's a shame that it has taken so long for it to reach any format in the US. I've got the German set that I subsequently ripped and added fan-made subs to (the non-English sections are relatively few, though), but to have it looking beautiful on Blu? It's a dream.

I'll likely buy the French disc when it comes out because I'm not waiting another year or more for Criterion to release it (especially now that a new 4K master exists) & I don't want to blindly buy their release when their compression has been so sucky lately. If they do good, I'll double dip.

I take it this isn't a post-apocalyptic themed film. The title throws me off

Great news! Day one for me!!

while it is not prefect, I **love** this film, especially the first half!

Also love the killer soundtrack! (one of my favorite U2 song...)

Excellent! UTEOTW is one of my all-time favorite movies! I haven't seen this since around '93, when I rented it on VHS tape. This film is a combination road-trip & sci-fi film revolving around a device that can see people's dreams. I also liked the element of setting this in '99, which in '91 (when the film was made) was far away. During the '90's, we had a very uncertain view of what was going to happen when the millennium hit. In any case, very interesting & well-done film.

I also enjoyed the superb soundtrack.

It would be nice to get a Wenders box set from Criterion. There are so many titles on the cusp of being released it seems releasing one at a time will take a good while.

Woot, that was me asking the question. This is it, the version we've been waiting for.

The original Wish List thread - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=203974 - has been around for so00 long.

I'm just listening to the music score.
I remember I liked it in the movie.
Contemplative and atmospheric..
Very good indeed.
Looking forward to this release too, but I hope they include the theatrical cut too..

Unlikely, given that Wenders hates the theatrical version.

At the rate they release the Chaplins and Harold Lloyds, this will take a decade.

Maybe there is a new 4K remaster of Paris, Texas?
