Default Sleep Timer on PS3?

Are some of you like me and fall asleep, drunk, watching a BLU-RAY and wake up hoping your PS3 is still working?

I think the PS3 should have a Sleep timer put in a firmware update.

Anyonee else feel like I do

It only makes sense that if a tv has a sleep timer that the PS3 has it too!

you do know that folding@home program you were talking about in the new version you can use a sleep timer for the folding@home and have it run until you think of a time it should turn off and the whole ps3 turns off all by itself when the time is up and goes into standby mode and when you go back into it you go right to where you left off without losing your place

I would never use it most likely. I don't get drunk (cause I don't drink) and when I start falling a sleep I get up and shut everything off and go to bed. (I like the Harry Potter movies but It took me several nights to get through year 3,.. seemed like it was great at putting me out. Strangely,.. it's my favorite thus far.)

But,.. I think it's a sense-able addition and likely and easy one to add and I bet lots of people would use it so I can't really say that I don't see a need for one.

I would absolutely use it. I have insomnia, and instead of taking sleeping pills all the time I usually put a movie on and that helps me fall asleep. I always use the sleep function on my TV, and while I have no issues with leaving the PS3 on all night it would be nice to have a sleep timer.

I'm all for this. I've wanted it for a while since I use movies to help me go to sleep sometimes.

It would be a very nice feature -- mainly because downloading anything is still so stinking slow....would be nice to just set up the downloads and then tell it to sit and crank away and shut itself off in 6 hours.

Thats wierd I was thinking the same thing at 2am this morning when I woke up with my PS3 running. I always fall asleep watching movies. I put my TV on sleep so the menu won't burn into my plasma. On the ps3, I will wake up in middle of the night, hear it running, feel around for the controller, then hold the PS button for about 3 seconds and then press x,x.

I would use the sleep timer. It would be nice to have a similar feature for large downloads. I would want an option for a demo to auto install after downloading then shut down when done.

It kind of does have a sleep timer in one sense. This won't help for your case (or mine in many instances) where I fall asleep, drunk, watching a movie. However, with folding@home, you can tell it to turn off your PS3 after XX hours and YY minutes of folding. I use that on the PS3 that's not dedicated to folding 24/7. But I, too, would like a true sleep timer for the PS3.
