will the ps3 work thru a projector? - Blu-ray Forum

I am useing a hdmi to dvi connecton from ps3 to projector and i get no signal - any help would be appreciated as I would like to project the games on a large screen

Make sure the projector is on Source Lock, then make sure its set to DVI. After that, when turning on the PS3, hold the power button for 5 seconds. After that, it should re-calibrate itself and choose the best resolution from your projector possible and display it. Give it a shot.

I have mine hooked to my Sanyo PLV-Z5 via hdmi. With no problem. Did you select HDMI as your output type in the display settings? Thats all I had to do then it auto detected for output resolution. Hope this helps.

Mine is working through hdmi to dvi connecton to my Sharp XVZ12000U projector.

If you have checked that DVI input as been selected and HDMI output on PS3 is enabled, and yet have no signal. I know exactly what is wrong.

DVI does not except interlace outputs. It must be progressive.

I too use a HDMI to DVI adapter, on my Toshiba upsampling DVD player. It displays the no input error if it switch HDMI output to 1080i. I select 720p, and everything outputs fine.

Your screwed if you don't have component inputs that accept 1080i on your projector, as the PS3 only outputs Blu-ray movies at 1080i or 1080p. Obviously your projector does not support 1080p. Basicaly you can only output at 480p which is DVD resolution.

This is why I nagg on Sony droping the ball on Blu-ray playback on PS3. They need to add 720p scaling.

I was wondering if the guncon guns for Time Crisis 4 would work on a projector. I am buying a PS3 and this game is my first buy. It would be awesome if the guns would work on a projector. Any info would be a major help.

The sensor for the guncon are calibrated after you fixed them at the edge of your TV, in this case your screen. Guncon and 100" screen will work but you may need to get a USB cable extender and/or powered hub to run the sensors to your PS3 and to connect the Guncon.

What projector? If it has a DVI port instead of HDMI, there's a decent chance it is non-HDCP compliant, in wich case the PS3 will not transmit to it over HDMI. You'll have to go component.

I have not yet gotten the projector. I wanted to know if it would work before I made the purchase. Seeing as it will work. Which type of projector do you think would be best? Would I basically just have to look for one that has HDMI? Thanks for your help.

Using a projector here no probs. I had to get the component cable, plus a component to VGA box of eBay, as my projector doesn't have DVI, HDMI or Component as inputs. Works fine till my LCD next year.

The picture does shift around a lot though keep having to manually move it. Mind you its not the best projector in the world. A Dell 1200MP!

I use a JVC HD1 on a 110ins screen, awesome for gaming.

DLP projectors are better for gaming though as they have a mega fast response time so 0 lag.
