LG OLEDs are widely considered the best TVs but they do have some drawbacks like lower nits for HDR and near-black issues. The best LCDs are probably the upper end Sony or Samsung models. You're just gonna have to research it based on what you care about most.

I hope legally was an autocorrect for regularly. Other then that, I would agree with SV. If you can afford it, go for an LG Oled, the picture quality is amazing. If you don't want OLED it depends on if Doly Vision matters to you. If yes, then go with a Sony LED. If no, go with a Samsung LED.

There have been some good deals on the 2016 models lately, but anyway you slice it OLED is going to be more expensive, yes.
A 4K TV without HDR is sort of pointless, it would be like buying non carbonated pop. You should read https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=293133 for a good HDR introduction. |

There's a TCL 55" for $650 that has HDR and Dolby Vision that just came out. I will be getting mine this week so I will let you know its quality. But its a good starting point for 4k with both hdr and dv until the OLED game settles down.

I recently had to return an open box LG OLED due to screen burn and as I'm impatient they offered my the Samsung Q7 55" I read the few reviews out there and tested it in store. I wouldn't dismiss it if you can get one for a decent price, it really does have many good points.

I had a LG 60 UHD 8500 till last Thursday when it died after only 13 months. Best-Buy is replacing it because of the warranty but they don't make that model any more, so I opted for the Sony XBR-55 X900E.
Hated to down size but not many worthy 60 inchers out there any more and 65 was to big. Can't wait for Monday when they bring in the new and take out the trash ! ![]() |

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I'm looking to get a new 4K TV soon as well. Don't think I can quite spring for an OLED. Want a 65 inch. First I was leaning towards the Samsung UN65MU8000, and now I think I'm moving towards the Sony XBR65X850E. I've had a 60" Sony 1080p set for ten years and it's been rock solid.
I just learned there are some ads you can't turn off on the Samsung home screen, that I think would bug me. TV performance is most important, and viewing angle too. Comments or thoughts? |

As for TV recs, only thing I would say is I recommend Rtings as a good review site and if you're going to be getting UHDs I recommend one with the HDR Premium logo, which have 1,000+ nits, good color volume and good tone mapping. If the set has Dolby Vision though, and you bank on more and more discs supporting Dolby Vision, then you could sacrifice some of that for other benefits or discounts. Dolby Vision is an enhanced HDR system that compensates for lesser specs. |

Amazon has the 65ks9800 for only 1998 right now. If you can buy it with a credit card you can use price protection and get it even cheaper. |

For those wanting OLED, but looking at other options in the $1500-2k range instead due to OLED prices. HOLD OUT! prices are dropping, and deals are had fairly often. I snagged my 65 inch LG OLED C7 for just barely over $2k including sale tax on a 4th of july sale. Join slickdeals, get alerts for LG OLED deals, and wait a little while, when the crazy deals pop up, you gotta move fast as hell.
