Always been meaning to see this. I know it doesn't have the greatest reputation, but I'm a slut for dat dark comic book aesthetic.

There is an alternate universe in which WB licensed Batman 1-4 to Arrow. Sigh...

They need to re-release the cartoon that came out around the same time. Would look gorgeous in HD. A chunk of it (and the opening) was animated by Madhouse and is technically Anime...

Love it or hate it it’s hard to deny Leguizamo as Clown.

Seeing this coming soon I’m all like:

Nowhere near a perfect movie but great times watching it.

I enjoyed John Leguizamo as the Violator in this, and the soundtrack is awesome. But everything else about it is so terrible. It’s crazy to think the excellent animated show came out the same year.

Far from a great film, but it has entertainment value!

And yes please to the animated show finally making it to Blu-ray.

I wonder if this is presaging an Excalibur announcement from Arrow. Because this is a Warner film, it was Nicol Williamson's last film and I think the character he plays in this film, Cogliostro, was meant to have been Merlin in a previous life. At least he was in the animated series

Yeah, and I'm surprised by that. Because Madhouse usually do excellent animation and Spawn was many things but well animated was not one of them

There's such an odd mixture of terrible and brilliant in this that I would hesitate to call it a bad movie. I remember the set and costume design being amazing, and the casting is great, but even at the time all the CGI looked sub-par and basically the entire third act relies on you not laughing at it.

Having been a huge Image comics fan, and Spawn in particular, I saw this in the theater, with high hopes. Can’t say I need own this, though I’m happy for its fans! Agreed on wanting the HBO animated series on blu, just recently ripped my old DVDs for playback…they do a much better job capturing the tone of the comics.

Though, who can argue Leguizamo’s performance as the Violator is unforgettable?

Eric Radomski's involvement is a big part of why the animated series turned out so great.
