Well, nothing new here.

I was expecting to hear the inevitable BBC Video Blu-only pledge. You know, like New Line. In good time...

Obviously, it was expected. However, it is always nice to see it in print.

About bloody time. I mailed the BBC 3 times since Friday to get a story up! I guess their HDM correspondant was away for the weekend...

Pali came out with that statement on Friday or Saturday -- I've seen it before.

I hope that the very pro-red administrators of the UK site DVD Times finally stop pushing their destructive agenda, now that the news has officially reached their media.

Hopefully Empire magazine will do the same thing. However, until we hear from Universal I'm pretty sure they'll stay on the fence but with two legs on the HD DVD side.

ahahahaha....now they can't say the window is left open...

their one saving grace....the most reliable title they have in their lineup is gone...

now it's...Transformers and Bourne/Shrek?...

that makes 1 movie left that is worth purchasing...IMO anyways...

and I'd rather wait for TF to be Blu and we can get the best available copy of the movie..

6th 'most emailed' news article on the BBC. Let's hope word is spreading...

Although, annoyingly they still call it Sony Blu-ray, and as far as I'm concerned it's always been in the lead.

Code:
"We believe widespread adoption of a next generation format will ultimately be determined by the consumer," it added.
Hello !!! It has already been determined by consumer. Even with $100 price premium.
BD still outsold HD-DVD player. And from what I read, HD-DVD is pretty much dead outside U.S. and they still think they're far from dead.
They're definitely need a new CEO.

Most poeple who bought that $99 player from Walmart are obviously not tech savvy. I bet there's only 10% of those who bought the player use it to play HD-DVD. The rest probably use it as upconverted DVD. That's why their software sales are not as high as BD.

Agreed! I thought it was very interesting that they're no longer saying that HD DVD will be the format of choice by consumers, just that the consumers will decide...

Although BBC would go blu-exclusive following TimesWarner, this news is nothing about that, right? It's merely repeat the well known news, not pledge that BBC would go blu.

I just emailed it to a friend who was going to get a PS3 but decided to wait until the format war ended. I think this will convince him!

I keep hearing about how HD DVD isn't dead from the Toshiba guy. He then says that October thru December sales were still very good. How does he expect to even reach the same sales as last year doing it without WB and New Line? Do they even have an aproach or are they just limping thru CES?
