Lightbulb So the end is near - will you miss the format war?

Well people, i think its safe to say, "we've made it" Blu-ray won the 'Formatwar' since WB announced Blu-ray exclusiv decision and the latest informations about Paramount and their will to support blu-ray again! Not to forget about the Universal rumors, Bill Hunt just has posted!

SO: will you miss the formatwar and the arguing about upcomming decisions or the arguing against the HD DVD fanboys? ^^

or are you happy that its finaly over and you will be soon able to enjoy all movies in Blu-ray from any Studio!

No, there are a lot of movies that are on dud that I want redone for BD. Why the hell would I miss that. But also, once Uni and Para come over, I'm gonna be broke because of all the movies I'll be buying.

Happy that we will soon have a lot more titles, but the format war is always fun......even though there was not that much competition and everyone saw the end was near
so I guess....yes and no ?

I will miss certain aspects of the format war such as the frequent BOGO deals and the debates (the ones that remained civil), but overall the end of the format war is a really good thing for all movie lovers.

I certainly won't miss the war. We should have V for Vendetta, the Matrix trilogy, Batman Begins, Transformers, Shrek the 3rd, Caddyshack, King Kong, The Bourne Movies, Top Gun, Backdraft, Meet the Fockers, Cinderella Man, Fast and the Furious, The Rundown, Dragonheart, Meet the Parents, Miami Vice, Billy Madison, Smoking Aces, Breakfast Club, Dukes of Hazzard, Field of Dreams, Animal House already on blu-ray.
I honestly feel that this war has been drawn out long enough.

Paramount is still denying coming back. Then again Warner said they were commited to both formats. They are all liars. I'm just more forgiving of those who lie in blu.

It will certainly take a lot of the excitement out of here. We have seen many excellent threads come and go. A lot of the war was fought right here in this electronic exchange. Did it make a difference? Did studios absorb the many good ideas of people here? They won't say. After all, who wants to admit they got their ideas from some people at blu-ray.com.

"Oh yeah. That Tron guy opened my eyes."

"Tron guy? You mean that idiot from www.tronguy.com ?"

"No, the other idiot!"

I won't miss it. I look forward to knowing that each new release will be available on BD without having to check who the studio is.

No I won't miss the format war, the speculations, the rumours, the lies.

However I think there will be rumblings for months yet, even when UniPara go blu. There will be a small contingent of ex HD-DUD fanboys saying how this film would have been better in Red, and doesn't region coding suck, and blah blah blah.

Though I do think the format war is a good story with twists and turns, and could be made into a film. But who the heck would release it?

Honestly, if it really had been much of a war, it would've been nice, and entertaining to see all those buisenesses fighting for they're customers.Of course in this case, the beat down was enough and it time to end it.

It is technically correct. As of when they said it. They are still committed to HD DVD. Even Warner today still released both formats till may though they have stated they only wish for one format to continue on.

It's like saying : today is still Wednesday.

Victory is at its hand. Growing mainstream of consumer is ahead. Full stream ahead on the course to the future with victory..

I ll say.... cuz format war is over and Blu-ray will be around without prolong war and fail to mainstream that open door to download market.

I will always remember what I did and done through format war from before begin and to end. Like I knew I would have both format and evaulated them and goes Blu-ray Exclusive in Nov 16 2007 as drop HD DVD format then in Jan 4th 2008 Warner Bros goes Blu-ray as annoucement. It is part of history.

Im glad the war is over because for one I want a lot of current Red-exclusive titles. But more importantly I think a lot of the best catalogue movies have been held back. I cant wait for movies like Gladiator, Braveheart, LOTR, etc
