Default Remember when DVD first came out?

This is just a thought I've been having for a few days and I don't know how you guys might react to this. With all the rumors and announcements that have been out there lately, I have been reading different forums and posts I can't help, but to wonder why there are some people saying that "the studios have decided for the consumer and thanks for screwing us, HD-DVD was the consumer's choice because of PRICE, a hell to Sony and their proprietary format!" so in light of this correct me if I am wrong wasn't DVD a creating of Toshiba along with several other companies? now if I remember correct we got the first DVD player that was out in the market and at the time it was $600 and I could swear that prices of hardware were really high for a while, so I just can't understand why so many people are complaining that the studios have screwed them along with Sony. All they need to do is go back memory lane and they'll it wasn't that much different a few years ago this time around hardware prices dropped fast! Sorry guys it was just a thought.
