in the mean time i got myself a copy of the TF1 edition of 2046 and custom subtitled it. I ripped the subs off of my Sony retail disc.
tbh, the quality of the TF1 is superior to most any Criterions (escecially those ones that they cram the extras on the same disc as the movie). gotta be honest that the TF1 looks better than some blurays i have bought. (no surprise as it was lauded as reference quality by many) the TF1 DVD release comes in a tin case and has a second disc of bonuses. I actually plan to pick up the UK DVD release too, and any others i can get easily from Amazon, etc, since most of them have exclusive extras for a WKW dor like myself. I still hope that Criterion will pick this up and give it a good blu release like they have done with Samurai Seven (which puts the Japnese release to shame). actually ITMFL & 2046 should be released as a set, as they have been on DVD in at least one country. here's hoping. oh, and if you're eager to write Criterion about WKW (or also write IVL, or HKL, or Artificial Eye) -- ask them to try to release an even a watchable DVD of Ashes of Time (not the remux, which at least has okay releases, but the original). EDIT: personally I hope that TF1 releases both on Blu... I will import it, as i bet it will far surpass Critterion. here's what dvdbeaver has to say about ITMFL: Quote:
so i imagine i will be trying to track this TF1 DVD release down as well. I have no idea how long it will be before seeing these in blu, but i want best quality available now, and hope TF1 release again in BD, since likely they will continue to be far superior to CC for these 2. If not by Criterion, how about just a standard blu release by any studio?
