Default What's in the ps3 box

http://ps3land.com/article-825.php

The above link mentions what we all will find inside the box of our ps3. Two points to make here is that there is an HDMI cable and a USB cable. A while back is was cofirmed that Sony would not include an HDMI cable, but that was before Ken confirmed that the Tokyto Game Show that both versions would include an HDMI cable. Secondly, it wouldn't make sense to not include a USB cable because if you don't have one, how do you charge up the controller? Keep in mind that Sony hasn't confirmed the list, but until further notice, this is what we'll get.

Just don't get sucked into buying 150.00 HDMI cables from the big retailers. You can find quality 12ft HDMI cables out there for as little as 30 bones. Well comparing the two I can't tell the difference.

Correct about the HDMI cables. Tell all of your PS3-buying friends that cheaper HDMI cables can be had right now!

apparently the compnent/s-video/composite on ps3 is the same as ps2, so if you have a compnent cable from your ps2 you can use that as well.

That's a nice gesture on their part.

Usually people are forced to start from the ground up all the way when the "next generation" console comes down.

Good!

THAT would be so awesome! I already have my PS2 racked up and hooked up via component so this means I can just drop my PS3 in its place and switch out the component/digital optical cables and be gaming inside of five minutes.

Or watching a movie?

... if I don't sell it on eBay.

I wonder if there will be a USB cable in the box for charging the battery in the controller?

Wasn't there a rumor about a blu-ray movie being in the box too?

I think this would be a given since the cable is needed to charge the controller. I'm sure that the extra controller would have the same cable in its box as well.

What I'm wondering is how long does the battery last (months or years) and how would you replace the batteries inside.

Component is analog too. What your using is what is called Composite.

Component looks better than composite even at 480i. Imagine using it at 720p or higher!

I'm guessing that the battery would have to be replaced maybe once every 2 or 3 years. I don't think that we will be able to replace the battery ourselves, we may be able to. It depends if Sony allows us to or not.

so can I get 1080i out of the PS2 component cables that I already have when hooked up to the PS3... or will HD only be available over HDMI?
