The above link shows box art for a ps3 game. This should not be considered to be final box art in any way, but it does give us a very good idea of what to expect. Enjoy.

I kind of thought they might use a blue case like the BD ones... but maybe this is the artwork without the case shown.

I think that the same case will be used, it just won't say blu-ray on the front cover. Very similar to a ps2 case, a few things are moved around.

I hope so, that would look sharp and make the games stand out more. It would also benefit Sony by making it easier for consumers to figure out which discs will play in the PS3... just pick up any movie in a blue case.

That is a great idea. I hope Sony does that as it will help out in the attachment of BD movies to the PS3. I also like it so my movie rack will just consist of one type of case...

One thing this really does, that will probably be ignore by many... It pushed Blu-ray in the face of EVERY gamer. Not one person can walk through looking at Microsoft, Nintendo, or Sony game systems and games without seeing the Blu-ray case and the PS3 stuff staring them in the face. In intricately ties Blu-ray to PS3 and that'll put PS3 into every person's face in relatively short order.

Forget the art itself, this is about the format war and making the J6P public aware of the technology.

Bottom line: Cool!

When I post links from other websites on here, I like to spread the word around. What is the J6P? I don't think that any ps3 game box will say blu ray on the front, because if it did, how could you tell the difference between a ps3 game box and a blu-ray box?

Maybe the big lettering on the lefthand side of the cover art that says PLAYSTATION 3 would be a clue?

J6P = Joe Six Pack = The average consumer that does NOT visit sites like this one, AVS Forum, Audioholics, or Projector Central on a daily basis. We are more often early adopters, and have little impact on the final result of a product. J6P is the real determining factor.

As for the box, I'm not sure that I disagree, but it may be marked by a box similar to a Blu-ray box with a PS3/Blu-ray emblem at the top of some sort. Either way, it does say PS3 right on the artwork page and you probably won't find many of the games in the movie section of your store - they'll probably be over in the video game section.

Linking blu-ray games and movies (if this is the case) is a stroke of marketing genius - even Mr & Mrs Clueless can't fail to see the link between blu-ray and the PS3.

The above link shows another ps3 box that is exactly the same as the first one. I guess we can assume for now until further notice that this is how ps3 game boxes will look.
