Lack of PS3-superior standalones hurting Blu-ray?

firat off im a blu-ray person this is no attact on blu-ray but if the ps3 is the best player out there which is great for sony! not so great for panasonic etc there player cost $500 and is slower etc. in fact i think ive herd all standalones are slow etc if true when will they release a player that is better than ps3 or equal to.... i mean surley if it slower it should be cheaper than ps3...
